1986 454 BBC RV engine 4-bolt main?
Hello everyone and Happy Holidays! I am new here and hope someone can help me narrow down on what I have. I recently purchased a complete low mileage 454 BBC RV engine out of a 1986 Fleetwood 27 ft. motorhome. I am trying to verify if the engine block is a 2 bolt main or a 4 bolt main block without dropping the oil pan. I would think they would use 4-bolt blocks for these heavy duty applications. Also, would it have forged internals or just a cast crank? I know it may have the "peanut" port oval heads 112cc or 119 cc, not sure. Have not had the valve covers off to get the head casting numbers. The casting number on the left rear of the block is 14015446 The engine has 33,342 original miles and is all complete. Even the emissions, AC are still bolted to the engine. A friend of mine parted out the motorhome due to water damage in the walls, and I ended up with the engine. Any input or info is greatly appreciated. Thank you

99% chance it's a 4 bolt. Crank is probably cast but there's nothing wrong with a cast crank in a stout street engine.
The peanut port heads will surprise you if you port match it to an oval port intake.

Thank you all for the updates! Much appreciated. Would a hydraulic flat tappet camshaft with a power band from idle-4500 rpms be a good cam for this RV 454. with a Edelbrock Performer, Holley 750 double pumper and Hooker Competition big tube headers? Thanks again, and Happy new Year!

Have the same motor in a blazer that is used just for off road. Mine is 4-bolt mains with cast internals. Peanut port heads. Just to give you a heads up, the motor doesn't even have 8:1 for compression. If all you want is idle to 4500. Performer intank is perfect. No need for big tube headers unless you all ready have them. 1 3/4 header would be fine. As for cam, call what cam company you like they should have what you want. Since it is flat tappet i run diesel motor oil too keep cam alive. The new automotive oil is not friendly to these cams. If you could find some older big oval ports with the small chambers to bump comp up a little, really wakes up these motors. Good luck.

Rob383, thanks for the input on my BBC. It won't take much to wake it up and make it run like it should. The peanut port heads would good on the street but will definitely lack the power at the strip, but on the street they will good. I will use the heads for now until I can pick up some large oval port heads 781s or 049s with small chambers. My cam that I picked up recently is a Summit Racing hydraulic flat tappet cam with matching lifters. The lift on the cam is .500 lift and the duration is 276. I didn't want to go any bigger because of possibly changing the valve springs. the Motor only has 33,342 miles on it, and has 4-bolt mains. I have a cast iron oval port intake from a 1965 396 BBC 325 hp motor which I plan to use on the 454 due to possible hood clearance problems. The 454 is going in a 64' Le Mans 2 dr Post car witha TH400 trans. The 64' Le Mans had a tired SBC in it when I bought it, so I decided to go Big Block, since I had a 80' Monte Carlo I built back in 2011 with a 454 BBC and later sold it. I think the cam and intake should give this 454 a little more power along with the Hooker Competition 2' inch long tube headers, 3 inch exhaust with flower masters. I plan to upgrade the heads when the extra $$$ is available.
