Since Dan's car was mentioned I thought I'd post a few clips. His car weighs 3150ish has power windows, locks, lights, signals, etc and as Unit213 said is knocking on 6's door. Here is a video of it at the track:

200 mph pass

In-Car

and a fun vid..... on the street!

Well I don’t know where to stand on this topic. The car in question I am sure has about 5% OEM parts on it if that, the car is a purpose built race car, fiberglass body, lexan windows, tin, tube chassis, I mean really where is the deeming factor of it being a GM product other then styling of the car itself?

Don’t get me wrong, fast is fast, but personally I feel that a certain percentage of the car should be from the factory, if it’s the body, frame, motor or whatever deemed “factory”. Taking a tube car at 2400# on big tires with a 1100hp motor is cool, but I really don’t feel it is what I consider a “f-body”.

Rick Head has the fastes F-body I know of... 7.66@186 with stock suspension, on drag radials, and with a TT SBC

Derty, it would make sense to move this thread to the new sbc/bbc forum, where it would be more on point.

Drove through a snow storm all night on the way back from testing the new motor in Phoenix on Friday and Saturday. Completely overpowered the tires and even lost a header collector! Gotta go to 16 inch bead lock wheels/tires. Our computer predicted we would run 7.21 but it didn't happen. Didn't even make a full power run. Will update site photos and video ASAP. Oh, the car's race weight for Top Sportsman is 2400 lbs.

Z8s, good to hear from you again. What's up with your Z?

Why a 16" Bead lock versus a 15"? Weld makes them in both now and I'm assuming anyone else can do them as well. Or were you running a 16" non bead lock to begin with?

Currently runnin 15" non-bead locks and Goodyear 1239, all of which will probably work Ok up here, but I had terrible tire shake in Phoenix and Bickel has suggested 16" stuff. The frickin double bead lock wheels are $1100/ea!!

Steve Morris Racing Engines, Pat Musi, Steve Schmidt all do some pretty serious motors here.

Jeff Prock is one of the best...if you come to the DFW metro area, i have several engine building friends like Hans Fuestal, David Reher, & Bud Morgan for BBC nitrous motors...all haul ***...i personally like the NX SX2 system with some plenum spray bars for the 3rd stage...and youre car is very nice, i've seen it several times...its a small world when you can put a car in the 7's, let alone the 6's....there's lots of outlaw racing in our area but my first big race was an NMCA race at Moroso Motorsports Park in 2000 in EZ trim....runnered up against Gary Rowe in the Edelbrock Quick 8 on sat before elims...got spanked on Sunday but i was hooked

I have spkoen with Reher and they can do it if I send them the hood scoop, manifold and carbs. They prefer the Cold Fusion system.

Reher are good people but dont really specialize in Nitrous...the engine builder on top right now is Morgan & Sons Racing Engines in Grand Prairie Tx...ask for Bud...he & his motors have dominated for years in BBC nitrous...you'll like him...Hans also is the man for NOS BBC...he's located in Ft Worth...Wes at Reher is a good man, friend of mine...so are Hans & Bud, call them before you buy...nitrous aint hard but some want you to believe it is...even I know a bit about it...we ran a 393" SB2 headed motor over 200 passes with a 600 shot & no probs...we really didnt have to take the hood off with the 605. it just hauled ***

Some of the best BBC Nitrous guys that I know of would have to be Gene Fulton & Scott Shafiroff.
