Here are some pics of a known 98 Firebird Formula ex superstocker built by Mike Pustelny MPR Racecars. From what I remember hearing was that the motor was installed from up top. Take a close look at the K member. This goes to show you that you don't need an aftermarket K member as the BBC uses an engine and mid plate (I assume engine limiters). This is how it's done correctly.
Has anyone else done this type of conversion using a stock K member? This is my goal in the next 1-2 years in regards to installing a BBC. I have the motor & trans, but now I need a 98-2002 formula. Does anyone have one for sale?
It has to be very clean inside and out with no rust or dents/dings and the paint must be in VERY GOOD shape.

Hey guys!!!! I've got an 86k10 that just dumped on me, so she's being rebuilt, I'm in the tear down process right now, I made the mistake of posting on gen three not thinking about motor generations, I was thinking body generations, I do have some photos, so far I've found my intake manifold has a cracked exhaust crossover, I have terrible coolant Leak down into the pan, I've also found coolant sitting above my piston, never should there be coolant in the cylinder, so I've concluded the motor ruined, hence the rebuild, it started with poor timing, funny though I had replaced everything timing wise except the cam, so the truck had new coil, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, timing chain(dual roller) first timing chain was a dual rollar as well, my valves great, rockers great, pushrods new, plungers completely functional, saw some slight irregularities with rocker movement, thought I might have the rare, flat cam, but everything I'm finding makes me believe it's bad cam bearings, coolant leakdown into the crank case would do that, but I can't for the life of me figure out why coolant would be doing this, and why it would be where it is, my head gaskets are damn near brand new still, I'm afraid I cracked a cylinder wall, is this possible, with minimal, machine work? Or should I be looking for a new block? More importantly is there anything I haven't thought of as to why this would happen? I'm becoming more and more perplexed as I find more problems, and no answers as to how it happened, I plan to have a 350 with 435 horses, want to keep it 350, I don't want to bore and stroke cause it shortens the life of the block, I want to do a complete naturaly aspirated build, with enough top end horse power and torque to be a beast on the street, and still have tons of low end torque and horse power to crawl through some of the stickiest situations, that's my goal! All while keeping the integrity of the original concept of the k10, it's a beautiful truck! How do I post pics?

I have the motor and mid plates for sale if any interested.
I've seen that formula at Etown. Car is gorgeous. I was much more impressed with the car than I was with the owner unfortunately. The rear suspension on that car is WAYYYYY overkill for the times that it runs. The motor in that car is dropped a few inches (as per owner) which is why it clears cowl so well.

Take one cheap craigslist Malibu for $300:
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/PANO_20120307_131902.jpg)
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/IMG_20120307_131959.jpg)
Ditch the gay wheels for some Ralley wheels in a skinny and eight, $200 from craigslist:
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/IMG_20120307_173154.jpg)
Ditch the gay hood $400 not from craigslist....:
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/IMG_20120602_204422.jpg)
Sprayed the trunk lid and 1/4 extensions orange to match...
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/IMG_20120602_204446.jpg)
Add one fairly cheap craigslist 454 from a truck:
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/IMG_20120310_120446.jpg)
Spend $20 on degreaser and make a HUGE mess at the car wash, add a used RPM intake, also form craigslist, add a car oil pan/pickup/pump, and touch up the black paint drop in car with some not so cheap Malibu BBC headers:
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/IMG_20120317_155103.jpg)
At this point you find out why the truck 454 was so cheap on craigslist....it has a death rattle...
So, trip to the machine shop, and now we have -781 heads sporting 2.19/1.88 valves, big lumpy camshaft, roller tipped rockers, forged L-S6 pistons (when the dash was important and factory muscle came with solid lifters), RPM air-gap intake, tried and true HP Holley double pumper, 3500 stall and a full manual TH350...
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/IMG_19991231_180254.jpg)
Before you bag on my gilmer drive belt set up, realize that big block crap is so out of date it can no longer be found in most salvage yards....![EEK !!](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_eek2.gif)
![](http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m66/Barrett50/IMG_19991231_180339.jpg)
Also ditched the street sign A/C delete panel for a proper one and cleaned up under the hood. Have not fought with a fan shroud yet, as this was most of the stuff that came with the car.
Not in the pics, I bought a Moser bolt-in 9 inch...that was OUCH! But, I couldn't find an 8.5 and did not know about grafting in the 8.8 from Fox body cars...soon as I get the center built, there will be some drag strip pics and results....

Just getting cranking on my SBC project 93 Firebird Formula.
Its still my daily driver, but have stripped all the AC out of it (after 3 compressors).
Put Autometer 2 5/8ths gauges in the AC vents over the radio.
BMR rear mount battery bracket in the spare well.
Ditched the ugly overflow tank for a stainless one from SpeedWay.
Put the starter on a remote button under the dash, just wouldnt fire sometimes.
Just some simple things right now.
Still have the 355 out of my Pro Streeter that I sold as a rolling chassis two years ago.
That will get freshened up with a new hyd roller cam and Performer Air Gap.
Probably go with the same MSD 6al ignition I had in the other car.
Lowered the front on BMR springs.
Splurged on a set of OE Wheels ZO6 wheels last week and new tires.
I dont know how long the rear will last with the other engine, but a 9" will be in the works.
Its a automatic car so trans options are wide open.
But I cant say anything bad about the 700r thats in it, even at 185K miles.
No sure if its ever been rebuilt.
Got the car cheap, real cheap about 4 years ago.
Gave it to my girlfriend to drive back and fourth to work, now she took my Jimmy for her new job about 8 months ago.
So the 'bird is mine.

I put a small block 350 out of a ss 1971 chenille into my el camino. It has a bigger cam some head work done and a corse a lot of bolt ons. has a turbo 400 with shift kit and the list goes on. I havn't quite finished the car yet. This car has way to much $ in it so I'm going to sell it pretty soon when i finish it.
I hope it will run like that white firebird in the video if i put a 125 shot on it. .. it has weld wheels and mickey thompson drag radials on the back. has a little rust

kind of off the "car" style posts on here but here's my 1987 jeep wrangler..7 inch lift, 37 swampers and most of all, sbc 350, around 350hp with a th400 trans. ford 9 inch and dana 44 axles. aluminum heads and holley 650 on top. longtubes and magnaflow mufflers.
