What about hood clearance and the carb. I notice some people doing this have to put on a 4 inch cowl hood and turn the carb 90 degrees for clearance. Did your carb fit under the stock hood?

The pacesetters are lt1 long tubes, and yes they work on gen 1 sbc. My demon is mounted normally with air filter on performer rpm and still fits under stock hood and retains wipers.

I've noticed that the exhaust ports on the LT1 head are D shaped as opposed to conventional SBC heads that are square shaped. Don't using LT1 headers leak when used on conventional heads and vice versa? I lined up gaskets from bothe headers and you can clearly see that they would. Any comments.? Excellent info, but as always pictures tell a lot more than words do. You guys that have done the swap , could you supply more pics?

Ive been running these headers for quite some time, along with others and have no leaking problems. I plan on working on the car some more this week, so ill shoot some more pics and maybe a vid.

Just use the stock tank and I think you can rig the stock pump to work. Why mess with the cost and hassle of the fuel cell? I don't know about using a mechanical pump with the fuel tank...If anything I would use an aftermarket electric fuel pump.

This thread is like 10 years old.... I did a big block swap so I can give some insight.
I used a BMR K member setup for a SBC/BBC and a standard motor plate from comp engineering to secure the motor.
The BMR K moves the engine to the passenger side by a inch or so to help with header clearance with the steering shaft.
As for the Cowl, I cut it across the full length and stitch welded it back together in one flat piece. I did not want to cut the windshield and patch the hole to the dash so I just run the carb sidways and made an access panel in the top of the dash to pull the distributor from the inside of the car.
