Default What type/kind LT's and exhaust system for this engine

This is the right forum I guess, I had it in the "External" forum before. I'm sure the engine builder knows what to use but I wanted to hear your opinions too.

427ci...fully built of course...DART engine
solid roller cam set-up
Hogan sheetmetal intake
DART heads (440cfm)
13:1 or 14.1 cr
full time race gas
with spray...maybe a 200 progressive shot
TH400 w/GV over-drive
Built Ford 9" rear
3:23 gears
street car only, no drag strip

1 7/8" ?
1 7/8" stepped to 2" ?
2" ?

Figure a max effort N/A streetable engine.

I'm with the post above.

Why build a no-way runable pump gas motor with a sheetmetal intake, solid roller cam, nitrous and all for a car that won't see the track?

I'd say if the ears can handle it I'd go 3 or 3-1/2" exhaust with a stepped header, but a 2-1/2, while choking the engine, will make the car a lot quieter on the street.

Because it won't be a full-time daily driver, just for fun, shows and gatherings.

I have no interest in the 1/4 mile, just going from a roll and having a SILLY street car.

Do you mean 3" or 3 1/2" right off the collector? What LT header would this need or would it have to be custom?

And 104 octane gas is readily available all over this area, airboat capitol of the world and they all need the good stuff because they use aircraft engines.

2in headers with 4in collector. reason being its a big block, and its got 427 cubes, and it will see spray.........

as for the 104 ocatane????? it wont be enough if you decide to get on it nd play around. if you want to run a little bit lower comp like around 12.1 you could get away witht he 104, even then its kinda close.

My motor is 13.1 comp and I run 114 oct fuel on motor, and when I spray I run c116

I meant 3 or 3-1/2" exhaust right off the header because those are available in a full exhaust system since you mentioned it only being a street car. But 4" would make it breathe better, but it would definately be a loud MF! I thought this was a 427 small block since you mentioned 1-7/8 headers, but if a big block, I'd go 2" primaries at least with a 3-1/2" or 4" collector.

And the 104 octane would be fine for cruising, but I'm thinking you might need more octane for beating on it, especially with the spray.

It would be a 427 small block DART engine. Will a big block even fit into a 98' WS6 Trans Am

you will probably have to run adapters to run that big of a header but i would go no smaller than 1 7/8 but 2 would be better, especially on spray.
