cam question
i am building a 383 stroker, i am using an eagle crank, federal mogul pistons, eagle rods, edelbrock performer intake, and holley 650 carb. my question is what size cam would be best for my setup? any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

That's pretty high compression for so low of an operating range... What motor and heads do you have?
If you put in a cam with that operating range, you will very likely have pinging problems even with pump premium. You'll need to cam it up a bit for the CR, but then it won't be happy in that operating range. So far I see a mismatch.

Have you thought about a hydraulic roller or solid roller? If you're building a motor nowadays, it doesn't make sense to stick with a flat tappet unless you have serious budget constraints. You will be leaving power and/or driveability on the table. The rollers make a much more flexible motor, IMO.
