big block HP?

Default big block HP?

I have an 1984 4 bolt mains 454 with oval port heads. can anyone guesstimate what the factory ratings were in both HP and torque?

The Peanut Headed Motors Were Dually Truck Engines Or Used To Power Generators For Water Pumps They Suck Fuel Dont Rev Up Have Good Torque And No Real Power Smog Motors But Will Look Good Under The Hood If You Want A Bbc Motor 210 Hp And 300 Lbs Is About A Guess Jz

I have a 1984 454 out of a motor home now in a '92 silverado dually, it has the peanut port heads. 210 is about right for factory rated hp but torque was in the high 300's to low 400's.
I had an engine with large oval port heads in the same truck and it had more power and would pull to a higher rpm. (this was with the same exact cam, compression, and tbi set up as the peanut port engine).

If you have large oval ports it's not hard to get close to 500 hp with more compression and a bigger cam. You can even see 500 hp with peanut ports if you port them out right.

Not sure the span of years they were made, but the best oval heads for performance are 781 or 049's (last 3 digits on part # in rocker area).

they are cast iron and i still have i think 3 sets in the shop hahahahahaha jz

Yes, cast iron. I don't guess they are worth much these days with so many new cheap priced aluminum heads around.
