Big Block Options...info needed
I am in the market for a big block chevy engine with 800-1000 hp, pump gas, reliable, and FUEL INJECTED. Those are my guidlines, I am open to anything else except NOS.
What are my options? I am trying to find the best all around deal possible. Custom builders, crates, etc.

Multi point is certainly discreet and very efficient, with no risk of intake puddling. Throttle body is far simpler, and allows you to use intakes and superchargers that are designed for carbeuration. It also allows you to maintain a classic look. Neither option is very inexpensive.
You could start with a 454 HO short block ($3300) or a 502 short block ($4200). Both have nice, low compression for boost applications, and have all-forged rotating assemblies. Add AFR heads (which come nicely polished) for $2000 to $3000. Weiland supercharger kit for $2700. You'll probably need a pair of throttle body injectors. That'll run for at least $2000. And of course none of this includes all the funny extras like distributor, gaskets, fasteners, etc.
1000 horses from anything doesn't come cheap. If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg off the bat, you could just get a 454 HO crate engine for $4800. It has the same low compression, all-forged assembly as the short block. Add a temporary carb, or throttle body injection for now. Supe it up later when you're willing to spend more.
Not trying to sell you anything 'cause we don't do EFI and that's what you want. Appreciate, however if you'd share info on this comment :" I have found many 800hp carb engines for 5-7K. "
Whose engines are these? Are they warranteed and dynoed? Are they used? Firechikn is very correct in his advice.
Our 632/800 is $17K. (pump gas) Our 540/825 ($16.5K) and 632/900 ($19.2K) are C-14 engines.
Where did you find these $5-7K engines?
