Where can someone find a cheap set of heads for a sbc.Something like the dart sportsman 2's or better.Preferably new.I have checked ebay and nothing really jumps out at me.I know summit has a good price but I was looking for that unbeilevable price.Just seeing if I might get lucky. Also they need to be fully assembled. Thanks

I have had better success with the Dart Iron Eagle Platinums, RHS, EQ Performance, and vortec heads. These can be had for a very reasonal amount of money.

Are the iron eagle platinum heads better than the sportsman 2's?MY choice, does that mean good springs, say 600 lift,200 cc runners or better,2.02 or 2.05 valves,3 to 5 angle valve job?If any of this costs extra then how much extra. The heads are for a 77 camaro braket car but still street legal. Its a very heavy car so torque is a major need.I,ll probably be running a comp 292 flat tappet cam,but may run a bigger cam later on.

The Dart, EQ, & RHS are all better than the Sportsman II's! In fact the vortec chevy heads are better than the Sportsman II's with the same size valves(Exhaust work to clean up going from 1.5" to 1.6" valve). Yes different valve jobs cost extra. Also what size motor are you going to use?

I'm suprised no one has mentioned vortecs yet. They are dirt cheap.

Yeh the sportsman II's are junk..I honestly think the cylinder head department over at world products really dont know what a cylinder head is suppose to do...maybe they cleaned up with the new ls heads they have?

mmk...where do you get 5 angle valve job..all mine are 4's...i dont even do 3...
Top cut/seat/bottom cut/bowl cut IE: 30/45/65/75 Im guessing the transition angle from top cut to the chamber..but other then that theres no use for a 5 angle or more valve job.

hmm you were talking about the dart sportsmans...those arent TO bad, but out of the choices here the platinums would be best unless you want an aluminum head..

Shoot me a PM or phone call with what you're wanting to do with the motor, what your budget is, etc and I'll make you the best deal possible.

Thanks for supporting the sponsors on this site

Brian at Portworx did the head on my Supra and another one of my Supra buddies got his head done by them. I made big power from the head work. My Supra spools faster and makes a lot more power at lower boost levels. Portworx did the heads on a few of my LT1 and LS1 buddies cars too. Everyone has nothing but good things to say about them...

Say WORD.

Only downside to Vortec's is you'll have to buy self aligning roller rockers, and a vortec style manifold and only able to run .480" lift(unless you buy the Scoggin Dickey modified heads).

I'd buy Vortecs, easy 40hp.

....but ~$75-100 worth of machine work will take care of most of that. I'll be running non-self aligning roller rockers, screw-in studs/guideplates and .555" lift cam with my 906 vortecs.
