suggest a good h/c setup
Ok street car, may hit the strip a couple times but not on the regular
64 impala
350 4 bolt main
edelbrock performer rpm intake
holly 650 single line
3.73's
I will buy the correct converter for the h/c setup
350 turbo transmission.
Not looking for any crazy stuff but would like a nasty sounding idle and good power to about 6000rpm.
Any suggestions?

I would use either RHS Pro Action 200 cc int runner heads or the Dart Iron Eagle Platinum 200 cc int runner heads. They are both just about a coin flip as to which one is the better head. On the cam choice I would keep it in the 220's @0.050" with a hyd flat tappet or 230's @ 0.050" with a solid flat tappet. I would keep your LSA at 108*+0*, this should give you roughly 11 lbs. of manifold vacuum @ 900 rpm. Your vacuum brake booster should still work without a vacuum canister and you can still have your lumpy idle.

200cc heads may be a bit more than what you are looking for. On a 350 they would easily support power to 6500, but might not be the best bang for the buck given what you are looking for.
If you'd like to save a little money I'd go with vortec heads, they'd be more closely matched with your 6000 rpm goal, and I dont think 350-375 hp would be very hard to accomplish with them.
Just my .02

you are correct and you would have some machine work to do unless you buy them already set up for .460 + lift.
Do you have flat-top pistons?
An Impala is a bit heavy you have a great street gear with a decent height tire. I would stay around 180cc intake runners.
Personally I would go with the vortecs.... get the guides milled down for retainer clearance and for single spring clearance if you go that route. Usually $35-50 at most machine shops. Install a good set of springs and run a 274 Comp Cam with 1.6 rockers if your bucks up.... if not run the stock self align rockers. Idle won't be really nasty but it will be quite noticable especially with some good pipes.

Iron eagle platinums 200cc.They are only a little more than the vortecs and come with everything you need, whether its for your motor now or an upgrade later. You can spend alot of money on the vortecs trying to convert everything, machining for springs for the lift, redrilling for intake, cutting for screw in studs, ect. You would be surprised at what you can get a pair of platinums for and they flow wonderful at all lifts.
