Default "NEW" ENGINE, Upgrades BEFORE/AFTER PICS & VID

Engine finally DONE!

I recently got the following done to my engine. I had 3 oil leaks in the car, Rear main seal, Oil gasket, and another leak that no one can figure out where it was coming from. Turns out it would be around $1500-2000 to fix it.. And I thought, what's the point of fixing an OLD 15 year old engine. So I set forth to get the engine remanufactured. I then decided to get a cam, ceramic edelbrock TES headers, ignition system, etc. Total $7000cdn

Here is what was done:

1 - New 5.7L V8 350 engine (Rebuilt with new Pistons, Bearings, Valves, Seals, Springs, Lifters, Timing Set, Polished Crankshaft, All new Gaskets, Including Head Gaskets, Intake, Rear Main seal, Timing Gasket and Front seal).

1 - Intake Manifold

1 - 3 Year, Parts and Warrenty (60,000km Warrenty) on all related parts.

1 - Comp Cam

Here shows the cracks and WELDING the previous owner did (he was a welder). Surprized to see this when they opened the engine up - http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...s/100_7780.jpg

Old parts -

Apparently the engine had compression leaks, running quite lean, coolant leakage inside the engine, cracked intake, welded intake with the 6 years the original owner had the car (obviously abused!)

i used to want to get a 3rd gen iroc so bad before i realized the LS1. they look sooo clean in white with the chrome iroc rims.

heh, you could put this thread in 1992 and it would fit fine. no signs of an LS1 swap. but hey, your camaro is the nicest 3rd gen i've seen in a while. got any more pics?

wouldnt it have been better to sell that car and get a newer lt1/ls1? you spent 7gs on a car that is worth about 1/3rd of that resell value.

In all honest, I'm not particularly fond of the newer body styles. And the tranny is new, and engine now.. Exterior is in great shape.. No reason to sell it.. As far as i'm concerned, I'll be old and grey with no hair and i'll be still driving it

Looks really good Paul. I know it has to feel nice knowing you just extended the life of your car for many years to come. That and now all the little stuff is now fixed.

I think he was refering to how fast it will run. I'm interested to know how many HPs you are getting out of it. Nice looking car BTW.
