Default cranking compression ?

Will a higher compression piston mean that the cranking comp will be higher than a stock piston? My little 355 with trw forged 11:1 domed pistons and 64cc heads has only 185 to 190 cranking compression psi.I think I had almost that on a stock 350 that I tested years ago,but its hard to remember.I still thought with these pistons that I would have over 200psi.I know that the cam has something to do with cranking comp but I dont know how much. The cam is a solid 250/258 @.050 on a 109 lsa.
Also I was told I could degree the cam in using cranking compression, just set the cam timing where it has the highest cranking compression.Has anyone ever heard of this?

Yea, your on track cam wise, a 109 LSA is tight, so you are bleeding off your cylinder pressure way more than a 112 grind. Your static compression will always be lower with a tight LSA. HTH
