Not really possible without big duration, you can have it have a slight chop, but for it to be nasty 10 second sounding you will need a big converter and a deep gear, does he have that? My 350 i had was a full roller motor with 236/242@.050, it hit pretty good on a 110 LSA, but it only sounded like 12s to me, which was possible with a gear. You cannot have the cake and eat it too without everything else to accommodate the cams "needs".

I have a comp cam XE 230 236@.050 with 50 moles or so on it, it idles nice and loves a 3000 stall, i want 75$ plus shipping with lifters. Let me know, it pulls hard from 2000-6000 with my vortec heads i had on it.

A cam that would sound like that would make a stock motor worthless on the street. There are plenty of cams that have a decent lope that would be much better for you.

On a stock 350 I wouldnt go anything higher than a 260 duration. A stock motor simply wont flow enough to keep up with a big cam. A good stall will help, but if the engine itsself cant handle it its no good.

I would recommend this cam for you:

I'm a big fan of the Comp xtreme energy line. Ive built a lot of 350's that used this cam. For a mostly stock motor its great. It has a noticable idle, nothing like a 10 second dragster, but definately doesnt sound stock and it's powerband is right in line with what a stock 350 is capable of.

Back in 1982 I put a Comp 268 camshaft into my new '82 Z28. The car sounded great and it ran very well with this camshaft. It ran 9.10 in the 1/8 mile with this cam and a set of Cyclone anti reversion headers and and Edelbrock Performer intake, which back in the day was a real respectable time. The car got 21 mpg before the cam and still got 21 mpg after the install. Bob

I'd be less concerned about sound and more concerned about the powerband. No one cares about the sound when they are getting passed by everything.

This is a 14 yr old thread, you may want to start your own for better feedback.

If you want to cam a stock tbi your gonna need a cam that works well with the stock efi and prob tune it somehow or something real close to stock n not really worth it.

I suggest a aftermarket self learning TB unit like fitech with a dual plane intake & hei dist and maybe a fuel pump upgrade.

I find most care more bout looks/sound. For example lots of people dislike how my C3 &C4 corvette have single exhaust tips

Also I picked my C3 cam cause it worked well with low comp but lots of peeps like the sound

You can make the car perform well while also being aesthetically and audibly pleasing. However, sacrificing performance for a choppy idle is a fool's errand.

I'm not operating a business, so I really don't care about the market.

BUT the manufacturers do! And several parts that hurt power sell more than those that are ideal.

And this has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion or my advice.
