I'm running a Performer RPM air gap now on my nova and its great, but what would be the advantages/disadvantages of switching to a victor Jr, has anyone done this before? your thoughts, ideas would be great

The difference between the 2 is the rpm range the air gap1500-6500 vic jr 3500-8000. the air gap gives you better low end were the vic jr gives you more top end.You want the intake to match your cam.If you put a 1'' spacer on the air gap you will get 500 more rpm's out of your air gap.w/the cam you have you would be fine w/the air gap.you could use a little bigger carb maybe a 750 double pumper or just bigger jet s & barrel squirters & remove choke horn.

keep the airgap,it will definently perform better with what you have.I dont believe a 1'' spacer will help in your case.your 650 is just right for your combo.I'm not sure what the bigger jets and squirter have to do with carb size,so you only need DIFFERENT jets or squirters if your tune is off

Keep the AirGap unless your spinning the motor over 6500rpms. I swapped a Vic Jr in place of my RPM on my 355ci marine engine and picked up a few topend HP but lost ALOT of midrange and topend torque. Felt much better with the RPM. Spinning around 5700rpms.

Yeah the air gap will out perform the Victor Jr. at the track with your smaller cubic inch motor. I highly doubt any performance gains are to be had with a spacer on the air gap and maybe the couple HP gain wouldn't offset the cost of the spacer. If you were to do anything to your Holley I would invest into a Proform main body. The 650 is more than enough carb for your engine build, plus if the motor needs more flow the pressure drop created will make it act like a 750 anyway.

A direct swap i have seen yield 9 HP on a Vic JR, but made allot less TQ down low, so the switch off isnt worth it on your combo, unless you were stalled to 3500 with a auto, i have the air gap with a stick and i love it, i have a 750 with a spacer, mine only hits 6000 because of the HEI, i need to improve my ignition badly.
