Yep, with enough money you can make anything fast, just some engines take less money.

To me now that I have a BBC, a small block is a waste of time and yes I used to own a car with a 350 and mods and it screamed for what it was.
oh **** my car has a jet engine so a BBC is a waste of time. The 350 sbc is the most cost/power efficient platform GM ever produced, period.

Yep a BBC would be a waste of time compared to a jet engine.

Your last point is kinda a no brainer since they have not made anything smaller then a 350 since like what 91 or something????????

However its all still on what you compare things to bud. There is allways something better and not everyone is worried about whats "cost efficient",. Check out the cost of BBC heads compared to SBC heads when it comes to aftermarket......... BBC stuff will make more power but cost more, same for a 350 compared to a 305, you can get a 305 a dime a dozen. For some people thats all they can afford.

My first camaro had a 2.8 in it, 305 is a waaayyy better and more cost efficent than that junker.

The original topic was about if his 350 would bolt right up........ so yeah.......

I thought e were talking about cars? That motor is the LQ4, not an LS1, LS based though but a truck motor not a car motor from the factory. Yes 350's have come in cars and trucks but I have never seen a truck motor go in a car from the factory, IE a VORTEC motor in a car from the factory.

I can't think of a RWD chevy car engine thats smaller then a 350 since 91 ish.

This is getting really off topic.

How much would it cost to just rebuild a 305? Nothing done to it just having it rebuilt .Since its a 92 and TBI could make it carburated by switching to a different manifold?

Yea, it can be converted to carb, it would run a little better. It cost more to revuild a 305 than a 350 though. Not a whole lot, but a bit. How much you say? Depends on the machine shop, the parts and the labor. I can build a 355 for 600$ or so.

Your probably going to pay around 1500-2000 to have a shop rebuild and install that 305.

My 96 Z was just as easy for me to work on as my carbed 468 BBC but thats just me.

On the rebuild question a buddy at work has a Iron headed 350 SBC that makes 4XX hp in his GMC truck. It cost him $1,400 (machine shop) and so far has had no problems at all and runs strong.

He just had his stock 350 pulled and freshend and put a cam in and some other odds and ends.

change motor mounts, and def tranny mounts. after i put my 355 in my 91 rs the torque arm and tranny mounts gave way and my 700r4 didnt appreciate it. so do your self a favor and def do tranny mounts, but other then that its pretty much drop in and go.

Well they round up a little but they are pretty much 350's, 349.847 to be exact.

Last thing I can remember having smaller than a 5.7 was a Caprice in 93 and North Star in XLR but that really doesn't count.
