question about heads... I cant figure out what the casting # is on a set of heads I got. It looks like a big line of numbers with no definition on the at all. So, anyone have any secrets on trying to find out what heads they are? They are bolted on still so id like to keep them on if I can.
Also, they have press on studs. Could that be an indication of their size? I had a 305 that was like that so Im hoping thay also made some for 350's like that.
BTW the # on the block is 3956618, but ive found the specs on that one already. thanks for any help.

That could be a 302 block worth some money.
Most non performance sbc heads come with pressed in studs.
If you wire brushed both numbers and still can't read them you can somewhat ID them by the shape on the front and rear between the valve cover and block.

the numbers are clean they are just very poorly cast on. Id be pissed if it was a 302, they guy told me it was a 350. I guess it doesnt matter, i have to get my car running either way. between the vc and the block theres a small arch looking design on it. Is that a good thing then?
The casting number for the block does show up as 302, 327, or 350. I'd find the suffix code and decode it. A good 302 block can go for a couple thousand dollars right now to the right person.
As for the heads you really need pics but typically a 302 or 327 originally came with double hump heads like these. There are several other shapes also but this is all I can find online.
