yeah but vortecs with 2.05/1.60 valves flowing in the 270 range would NOT be cut short at only 6000 rpm....No way in hell.

Dont hold me to it but i dont think you can go with that big a valve set in those heads and yes, they would still probably run out of wind, it is the port desighn more so than the valve diameter that holds them back at the higher revs.

Ive done my research over on speedtalk.com and yes a 2.05 can be done on the stock seats no problem. But when trying to install a 2.08 valve you end up not being able the port the short turn enough. And the ticket to making them flow up to .600" lift is to lay the short turn back. the short turn in stock form is to steep.

Well, you are basically saying....buy aftermarket heads and dont dump a bunch of money into a cheap *** set of heads. Makes since to me.

No....but yes. Never spend the money to have em ported. Do it yourself it you can.
Im putting in a 2.05 valve and porting the **** out of 'em. Ive got my measurements and know what I need to do. I gonna get some 270+cfm heads for about $600 with a kick as valvetrain and have the satisfaction of saying I MADE my hp, have a hell of a sleeper engine, and a real fast car with not a lot of money in it.
I know of 2 cars that trap 121mph and 124 mph with vortecs and a 250/260 ish 535/550 ish solid flat tappet cams. one at 3300 and the other at 3000 raceweight. 11.00 and 10.70. I will be the next vortec car trappin 120+mph. If I can just get into the 117-119mph range Id be happy.
