My parents condo is the property right next to where that was. They still have go-carts....haha.
I rode that a LONG time ago.....late 80s probably.
Yea the Alpine slide has been long gone. I'll never forget going up there as a kid riding up the ski lifts all the way to the top of the mountain, and hauling *** down that slide on those carts. I flew off the track a couple of times, one time launching myself about 20 ft away in a bunch of kudzu. I heard they took the slide down because people were flying off and getting seriously hurt/killed. Bummer.

Bumping this back up for the people interested in the Alpine slide info.
1.) some history: http://www.hctgs.org/communities/loo...tvalley_12.htm
2.) Map of the park: http://wikimapia.org/#lat=35.0184516...9&z=16&l=0&m=b My parents Condo is to the right of the slide box and the campground box.
3.) I like viewing old vintage movies on youtube. Can anyone confirm that around the 5:00 minute mark in thsi video is the base where I took the attached photos? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qutyEFtOw_A
4.) Photos before were taken Thanksgiving Day, 2010.
If you have any old photos, please share! I love history like this...
Part of an old cart:
The old ski lift chair assembly:
The lift went on, and on....I couldn't see where it ended.
End of the track:
End of the old slide. If you look at the far center, you can see the track rounding the corner.
View from the end of the track, looking down. I'm guessing this was some sort of welcome building / clubhouse.

Thanks for the pics man. They're both intriguing and sad all at the same time. Looking at those lifts so overgrown like that is like somebody who was on the Titanic as a kid looking at it now while its been under water for 90 years. I can't believe the track disappeared under all that brush like that. Crazy!
I had some of the funnest memories as a kid on that mountain. It'll be missed.

LOL....My buddy moved to Tampa from Utah...The look on the guys face at the storage place in St Pete was priceless when he saw us unloading a set of Blizzak snow tires on a set of extra wheels for a Cobra....He asked "Man y'all take that thing mud riding or something?".....It was at this point that Matt realized he should have sold them rather than packing and moving them across the country....Pretty sure they're still in storage till this day.
