Well..... Given this post not sure if I should be worried…. Some A-Hole broke into my house yesterday and the only thing they stole was the key’s to my T/A and motorcycle??? The car was unlocked in my fenced in yard and they did not take anything from it?

This was GM's response.

Thank you for contacting the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center. We appreciate you taking the time to write us about obtaining extra keys for your 2000 Chevrolet Camaro. We are sorry to learn about the theft of your vehicle. Dealers will verify vehicle ownership before providing replacement keys, key numbers and/or security chips. Verification should include positive (photo I.D.) identification of requestor and verification of vehicle ownership through registration. Dealerships keep service records for all job requests, and given the VIN, it would show if a key replacement was requested. If you should need to contact us in the future, simply reply to this message or call our Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center at 800-222-1020. Customer Relationship Specialists are available Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Eastern Time. For more information regarding the maintenance and care of your vehicle, please visit http://www.gmownercenter.com. This free online service offers vehicle and ownership-related information and tools tailored to your specific Chevrolet. Again, thank you for contacting Chevrolet. Sincerely, The Chevrolet Consumer Support Team

On a side note. I am Back in the Saddle again!!! Bought a Z28 last week.

This one will not go to New Orleans.

What a shitty situation. This is such a huge problem, and the authorities don't seem to give a damn. Keep your car locked, inside a locked garage, and they still get to it. Makes me want to keep a chain around the axle if it spreads up here. Just can't have anything nice nowadays.

They cut the cars in half after stripping them cause then they can just get a couple of guys and push it out of a u haul truck when they dump it off.

Yeah you don't realize how attached you get to a car after almost 10 years.

Damn!!!I know exactly how you feel. That kills me to see the car like that. I guess mine probably met the same fate. Good luck with the next car.

they sell the gm vat keys on ebay. all you need to know is the resistor value(12 or 13 values) and it comes to you as a blank. so it wouldnt really matter if you investigated it locally. the thief could be ordering keys off the web.

I just did a little research, if it is in fact a organized crime ring/auto theft ring, the FBI WILL get involved.
https://tips.fbi.gov/
i think everyone that has has an issue should make a claim
