my fastest time was a 13.5 in a 1/4 i would like to run 12's and i'm fixing to get a good bit of money back off a law suit where i broke my back at work and i wanted to know what would get me there with out spending 10 grand i don't want to do to much where its not a street car cause i love to get in an drive i don't wanna make a trailer car out of it

You could, but it's gonna be a turd without a converter and probably will hurt the stock trans pretty fast. Then you'll be in the whole some money. Even on a budget setup probably 4k for h/c built trans and converter. However, it would be an 11 second car.

that's fine with me as long as i don't have to trailer it to steel track and can still get in an go is so much fun to drive i had a 2000 white t-tops that my wife has now but there's nothing like the ls1 an 4k not that bad that's something i can live with

Well a budget head is the 243. After that I'd say the prc 2.5 5.3 heads. That plus a torquer cam makes a good street setup with about 450whp. Rod bolts, turn it to 6500ish, and a 3500 converter had better get it off in the 11's.

Honestly, you might as well build a motor on the side if you want to get in the internals. Do it on the side, and do a 4.000 or larger bore so you have expanded head options
