Default Good machine shops in Gwinnett.

I'm looking for a good machine shop to rebuild my LT1. Nothing extravagent, but need someone local that has good pricing and won't have the car down for too insane of a time frame. Thanks.

If you're talking about a shop that can remove/build the motor... and not have it down for a long time... then that means you need a mechanic instead of just a machine shop.

Well I'm half way on getting it rebuilt to stock specs or buying a rotating assembly with forged parts and having the shop prep the block for me. All these decisions...

Calvin Neigbors did my machining on my Forged LS1, they know what they're doing and are local. You can look them up using the name Neighbors automotive in snellville ga. Tim the son runs the machine shop. They have all nice sunnen equipment and do ALL machining there.

I had a 2 week turn around for my shortblock and it was flawless.

I have heard a lot of good things about Calvin Neighbors shop. A couple our techs here at the dealership speak highly of his shop...

Yup...no doubt about it, but he wanted low cost & quick and Rob doesn't do either of those.

No, lol, just looking to put in a decent sized cam and heads setup and I know for a fact that this stock motor with so many miles on it won't hold it.

Not only that, but high-milage LT1 motors will spin a crank bearing very quickly if you un-torque the head bolts.

Why don't you buy a $300 junkyard core and tear it down/machine shop/& build it up in your garage? That's the American (apple pie, 4th of July, work on your Camaro in your garage) thing to do....

prolly because A) he has never built a motor and B) cant afford (money wise) to make a rookie mistake and waste a new motor if something isnt right.

building your own motor isnt something i would recommend to someone that doesnt have the money to back up there "oops...i forgot that" moment with they crank it and it spins a bearing or throws a rod....
