Good machine shops in Gwinnett.
I'm looking for a good machine shop to rebuild my LT1. Nothing extravagent, but need someone local that has good pricing and won't have the car down for too insane of a time frame. Thanks.

Well I'm half way on getting it rebuilt to stock specs or buying a rotating assembly with forged parts and having the shop prep the block for me. All these decisions...

Calvin Neigbors did my machining on my Forged LS1, they know what they're doing and are local. You can look them up using the name Neighbors automotive in snellville ga. Tim the son runs the machine shop. They have all nice sunnen equipment and do ALL machining there.
I had a 2 week turn around for my shortblock and it was flawless.

Why don't you buy a $300 junkyard core and tear it down/machine shop/& build it up in your garage? That's the American (apple pie, 4th of July, work on your Camaro in your garage) thing to do....

building your own motor isnt something i would recommend to someone that doesnt have the money to back up there "oops...i forgot that" moment with they crank it and it spins a bearing or throws a rod....
