So sleeper what are you running in the 1/4. I would think that a tuned LS1 with gears and LTs would be in the 12s pretty easy. Are you saying that you are running mid 12s in the 1/4. If you aren't then the guy with the LS1 either doesn't have a tune on his LT and gears car, has something he doesn't know about going wrong, or he just can't drive it. I haven't seen many mustangs in the low to mid 12s without nos or a good bit of work.

I have a "BONE STOCK" LS7 and I would love to meet you half way and make a good video! I dont know how your car will do against a stock ls1 car but I have seen 6speed ls1 cars with "free mods" trap speed around 112mph and some even more. IMO, mod for mod you cant beat an LS1. But your post was about racing a stock car and mine is stock down to the paper filter.

When I had my A4 TA it ran 13.20@107 bone stock. I added long tubes and a stall/w DR's and it went 12.20's@111 mph. Full weight car. I have a friend with a Mach 1 and he has CAI, LT's/full exhuast, 4.10's, EWP, tune and the fastest I've seen the car trap was 112 mph and he is a very good driver. I dont think the sleeper's 2 valve is stronger than a 4 valve.

Well I hate bust your bubble but I've kept every time slip I've got and wrote the mods and weather conditions on the back. I've made 100's of passes and you dont know what the **** your talking about. #1 I had a 98 TA with free mods and their are alot for a 98 that ran the 13.2@107, like I said before added stall, headers and sticky tires and went 12.2@111. Small cam, 90/90 and AFR's went 11.30's, added a 150 shot and went 10.20's. Full weight street car on 16" DR's. You cant tell me **** about what a LS1 will or wont do. #2 Trap speed means everything to a street racer going from rolls like most of them do because they wont buy tires. If a car is running 12's @106 like you said and the other is running 13's@110, Ray Charles can see what is gonna happen from a roll in a street race. ET is all about 60ft. MPH is the tell of the tape about how much power your car is making. #3 Im glad you like your car, hell I owned two 96' Cobras myself but there is no way your car weighs 3900lbs. Unless maybe you added 4 18" woofers and 100lbs. of dynomat for sound deading or some **** like that. I have a friend with an 03 Cobra with Kennebell on it and it dont weigh that much. Matter of fact its around 3750lb range. So why is your car so heavy? Anyway good luck on modding your car and looking to race stock LS1's. For the record I think with your mods your car should run mid 12's(with sticky tires)@ 108. If it ran 13's I would set it on fire. Why havent you had any track time btw?

Are you sure your car weighs that much? The Shelby weighs 3920lbs. with diffrent wheels, motor(iron block I think). I found this on a test site but I dont think he is right.

While the '06 Mustang GT is no handling champ by any stretch of the imagination, it's a enormous improvement over the last generation. With its standard 17" Z rated tired (18" wheels are optional at 900 dollars) and the all-new suspension, the 2006 Mustang feels nimble on turns. Body roll and understeer are still an issue, but nowhere near as bad as they were with the SN95 Stangs. Braking is also good. The standard 4-wheel disc brakes with 4-wheel ABS do a wonderful job stopping this 3,500lb car from high speeds.

Also, something you may not be taking into account on the two lightly modded LS1s you raced. 1. If they didn't dyno tune their cars after the mods they may have actually hurt their performance and slowed their cars down. 2. If they tuned their cars themselves they probably hurt their performance and slowed their cars down. 3. If they were beat by a stockish mustang I know they hurt their performance and slowed their cars down.

3800lb. raceweight, ok now that makes sense. 3600lbs. I was about to say if you car weighed 3900 without a driver it must have about 400hp to run 12's. lol. Man I believe what you say about beating them, not all cars are the same. Two guys I race with have Mach 1's with the same mods and I mean exact. One traps 111-112 and the other traps 105-106. Who knows?

i'd be pissed if somebody had the exact same mods as me and traped 10mph higher everytime...i know drivers come into play, but 10mph is a big difference for the same mods

There is a little diffrence in the drivers, one is real good but the other is no slouch and I used to blame it on that too until they made a real good video and one car is just way stronger. I would be sick too.
