So sleeper what are you running in the 1/4. I would think that a tuned LS1 with gears and LTs would be in the 12s pretty easy. Are you saying that you are running mid 12s in the 1/4. If you aren't then the guy with the LS1 either doesn't have a tune on his LT and gears car, has something he doesn't know about going wrong, or he just can't drive it. I haven't seen many mustangs in the low to mid 12s without nos or a good bit of work.

Are you sure your car weighs that much? The Shelby weighs 3920lbs. with diffrent wheels, motor(iron block I think). I found this on a test site but I dont think he is right.
While the '06 Mustang GT is no handling champ by any stretch of the imagination, it's a enormous improvement over the last generation. With its standard 17" Z rated tired (18" wheels are optional at 900 dollars) and the all-new suspension, the 2006 Mustang feels nimble on turns. Body roll and understeer are still an issue, but nowhere near as bad as they were with the SN95 Stangs. Braking is also good. The standard 4-wheel disc brakes with 4-wheel ABS do a wonderful job stopping this 3,500lb car from high speeds.

Also, something you may not be taking into account on the two lightly modded LS1s you raced. 1. If they didn't dyno tune their cars after the mods they may have actually hurt their performance and slowed their cars down. 2. If they tuned their cars themselves they probably hurt their performance and slowed their cars down. 3. If they were beat by a stockish mustang I know they hurt their performance and slowed their cars down.

Man I believe what you say about beating them, not all cars are the same. Two guys I race with have Mach 1's with the same mods and I mean exact. One traps 111-112 and the other traps 105-106. Who knows?
