He is the guy that built mine. Very knowledgeable guy. He's got a pretty quick Cobra that he runs.

If you get yours straightened out, you want to plan something for the 18th?

I would like to hook Bene up since he's on leave the week after, but Memphis doesn't have anything that week. Sorry Bene. If my car is running, the 18th is when I plan on racing.

On a side note, what better time than now to go with 3.73's and a restall......something along the lines of 4200-4400 and a lower STR . That ought to give me an edge on highway runs .

Where there's a will, there's a way .

Not sure on the STR yet...I'll be talking to Yank tomorrow to get their input. I might just leave it alone. Ryan wasn't sure that more stall RPM was right for me. It's all about getting that shift extension where it needs to be, and right now it's not too bad. I'll post up after I decide which route I'm going. I also might spring for the 3.90's versus the 3.73's. I don't see much highway and that's a nice compromise between 3.73's and 4.10's, which are too much IMO. I'm kind of leary about the 3.90's, but we'll see.

With a A4 I was thinking of the 3.90's..but it depends on your RPM Range and Tire Size I guess. I'm goin to 6800-7000 area with my shifts, so I decided to stick with the 3.73's. 4.10's and some 28" Tires with a high Stall like your Ben would launch pretty damn sick..

Looks like 3.90's and a PT4000 converter. Slight chance that I might go to a PT4400, but for now it looks like PT4000. And Kris is building my tranny. Caleb is a little too rude for my tastes and wouldn't tell me what I'm getting for my money. Sorry, but if I'm dropping that kind of cash, I want to know what components I'm getting.

RDTA was a huge help. He put everything into perspective and shared his experience with the different gear choices and converters (3.73's vs 3.90's and SS4000 vs PT4000 vs PT4400). Which is what led me to my choice of 3.90's and PT4000.

As far as my old tranny......I would highly recommend that no one ever use Arkansas Transmission Specialists (if they're even still in business). If you feel compelled to use them, allow me to rebuild your tranny instead. I won't charge anything since I have not a clue what I'm doing, but at a minimum I'll remember to install all the transmission bolts. On top of that, I had a sudden O2 sensor malfunction after they put my tranny in. I purchased new ones and then discovered that they had plugged my front O2's into my rear O2 connectors when I went to change them. No wonder they didn't work. I'm not perfect, but I remember where **** goes, especially when the wires damn near didn't reach the rear connections. And yes, we found the top two bolts missing from the transmission. How lazy can you get. These are the guys who bragged to me about their extensive LS1 knowledge.

Maybe I'm harsh, but anyone who knows me knows that I'm fair when I give feedback to people. Take Shane....he does one hell of a tint job for an unbeatable price. I've referred several people to him who wanted a tint job (although I don't think anyone has followed through.....sorry Shane, I try!). Take Ryan...he does a hell of a job tuning, and you can't beat his deal. I've referred everyone I've met local with an LS1 to him. I've referred some locals to Kris for major maintenance on their cars because we all know he does awesome work. APE exhaust....I've sent many people that way too. The point is, I'll tell anyone who cares to know who does a great job and recommend them. The same is true of people who don't give an honest product or service....like Arkansas Transmission Specialists. My opinion, stay the hell away from them.

It has nothing to do with the tranny failing....it did exactly what I needed it to do when I bought it. But shotty workmanship as far as the install makes me wonder just how good the tranny was to begin with.

On top of that, two LS1tech members from out of state bought trannies from these guys and never recieved the tranny.....after sending the money. They both contacted me for any information about them I could give, but I didn't want to get caught up in the middle. I simply told them that I was pleased with their services....which I was at the time. Those two issues may have been resolved by now though......the two individuals concerned never contacted me again.

::cough::brewerbuilt::cough::

Really you cant affiliate "Everyone" that worked there. I did, and i saw how people got screwed. People did buy tranny's off this site. (on my old account) and he never shipped. He sold quite a few and shipped quite a few, but not all.

You aren't the first who has had issues, and you def. will not be the last.

I wish i would have known how bad things were going to be when i originally began working there. I have been through so many "brewer" tranny's it isn't funny.

Im sorry i had to have been even involved with the place, and yes, they are out of business.

Hope it gets fixed, and gets back on the road soon bud.

Matt

My last tranny was from Polk but I was looking into different options. Anyone know anything about Sherwood Performance? They quoted my a pretty good price and he seemed to know what he was talking about.

Well the deal they offered was an installed price, so I said what the hell. I drove over, then drove home with a new transmission. I usually do my own work as well....and I will from now on.

I don't doubt Calebs trannies, but I had to pry what little bit of info I got out of him. He basically told me to just bring him the tranny and not worry about what went in it. It would be good enough. Sorry, but I need more than that. It's great that his family has been building trannies for 75 years.....but has he? That means nothing to me.

Kris told me exactly what is going in my tranny. He also told me there are no guarantees with it. I accept that and appreciate the honesty.....that goes a long way. If it fails some day, I'll understand why....and I won't blame Kris at all. Just like I don't blame Arkansas Transmission Specialists for their tranny. It did what it was supposed to do. I only blame them for the shotty workmanship on the install.
