a lt1 is a basic sbc so just get parts for a sbc . carb ,intake ,fuel pressure regulator and a distributer. u cant use the opti or the stock fuel pressure anymore when u run a carb setup. the pressure is to high for a carb system around 35-40 psi and u have to be at 7 psi. it's pretty easy for the most part just change the intake over and drop in the dist. it should'nt take but about 2-3 hours.

they also make all the conversion parts specifically for lt1's, It's pretty easy to do. or you can do like stated above but you'll have to do some drilling to get a normal sbc intake to bolt up to lt1 heads.

Yes you can, but it's not worth the trouble IMO unless you're running a plate nitrous kit or something. I did it last year for a friend, and he's kicking himself now cause he never wound up spraying the car.

Ported LT4 intakes and big injectors work just fine.

If you are going to do a carb, might as well just do an sbc since you have much better head choices, etc. with that.

I wouldn't say "better" head choices, but MUCH less expensive.

Just because it's an "LT1" head, vendors charge more money. For the same exact model head for a plain jane SBC, it's usually 300-400 cheaper. This I don't understand considering the LT1 is a SBC with a semi-fancy fuel injection system and peice of dogshit ignition system.

But the choices are out there. There's still more choices avail. for LT1's than LS1's.

The ignition system can be worked around with the LTCC and such. And for heads you can always go with SBC heads and just have AI modify them for an LT1/LT4. Honestly, EFI is more effiicient, and , in the end, makes more power.
