If your putting it on the trailer tailend first, make sure the trunk is latched shut..... ask me why.

It wasn't pretty!

honestly i would look at the placement of the car on the trailer. I know it sounds stupid, but i tow my 3550lb trans am and a 1700lb trailer with a v6 nissan xterra, and it pulls it great. I have to make sure that the car is not too far forward on the trailer to prevent putting to much weight on the tounge, causing the truck to sag too much! Just a thought!

Well, since this got pulled back up and don't take that wrong I appreciate all the help/suggestions from everyone. The trailer I was using was my dad's trailer and I didn't take into account that it had a 12,000lb winch and deep cycle battery mounted up front plus it's a steel floor trailer. I did however get mine back with a wood floor and no winch/battery and the truck squats about level with the front and pulls great. I didn't realize the difference that there was between the two until pulling both loaded. Again thanks for the help/suggestions guys. That's what I like about this site. Everyone likes to help.

The tongue weight should only be about 10% of the gross trailer weight. So if you had a 4000lbs car and a 2000lbs trailer you would only be looking at 600 on the tongue. Which shouldn't make the tow vehicle squat too much.

I'm not sure on the weight of my car, but my trailer is 2120lbs. Myself and Cainsw on here looked at both and besides my dad's trailer being alot older it didn't look to be balanced like mine is. Like when I pull my car up on my trailer, it doesn't matter where I put it, it's still gonna pull good. I do have it marked where it pulls the best though. My dad's on the other hand, you dang near have to have the car literally hanging off of the back for it to pull decent. I pull mine now for a 3hrs traveling time everytime I go to the track and except for the really big bumps you can't really tell it's back there.
