I THINK THE BOTTOM FELL OUT OF THE COLLECTOR CAR MARKET, THE MAJORITY OF THE CARS ARE FETCHING 20 CENTS ON THE DOLLAR COMPARED TO A YEAR AGO. TOO BAD, JUST ABOUT ALL THE SEATS ARE EMPTY IN THE BUILDING BAD TIMING FOR THIS AUCTION

Yeah, not impressed with this site in Vegas. This may have been overkill by Barrett Jackson, especially in a 'down' market. Greed?? I think the AZ and FL auctions are more than enough for this outfit.

with cars being so cheap there, what did you BUY?

I would have gotten in trouble there.

BJ in LV was the right event in the right place at the wrong time. Until the MSM restores some normalcy to the US economy (read: after the election) few people are buying much of anything. No matter how much wealth you have it's value is headed down whether you are invested in the stock mkt. or not. This is not the time to be spending money frivolously.

Love the car! I have to tell you, though, anything over 400 hp on a daily driver spells trouble! We needed something with more versatility than my wife's Bug convert, so I got her into an '08 Trailblazer SS. Of course she didn't want it to look stock, so I put an SLP dual Exhaust on, lowered it 2", put a Volant Cold Air kit, removed all badges and replaced the plastic gold chevy bowties with polished billet pieces. This thing is trouble!!! I can't stay out of the gas! I definitely smell a ticket! I plan on putting coilovers front & rear and installing the Magna Charger Supercharger on it. Should put out over 550 hp. When I'm done, I'll give you a call and we'll take the cars for a "ride"!
Anyway, congrats on the M3. I know you'll love it.

It only makes sense that prices would be down with a tough economy; more people need money and less have money to spend. BUT I also heard that the quality of cars was way down, thus what looks like a good deal on TV or to a novice may be just a more realistic price for the car.
Plus, a no-reserve auction really blows for the seller in a down economy.

Money is tight all over the place, you can't compare last year to this year. Less demand means prices fall, period.

Bad timing. How could you not get as many buyers to Vegas as anywhere else? I would imagine a few pulled out early and some paid their fees and hit the road.

If BJ had some common sense, they would have scheduled this auction the weekend after SEMA (1st week Nov). Think about it, the entire city would be filled with car enthusiasts from all over the world. I would have attended the auction after the convention, I'll be at SEMA.

Foreign car shoppers would have ate those prices up at BJ. The entire automotive aftermarket world is at SEMA, not just the USA crowd.

Tony, Tony, Tony what's da matter wit choo?? Everybody at SEMA is not a Vic Edelbrock, not to mention the fact that the people that attend SEMA not only can't afford to stay another week in Vegas, they can't afford to be away from their business.

As far as putting asses in the seats MGM can do that if they want to. Plenty of people got offers for free rooms and tickets to BJ. It just ain't a good time to be blowing cash on cars.

But never fear. Barney Frank has introduced legislation that will make a collectible car affordable and available for every American family.
