The LS6 was never certified in the F-body, so your car would be 1 of 0.
It doesn't really matter what heads are on it now, because there has been a few years in between. Post a photo of the SPI label in the drivers side door jamb.

Look no need to be condescending here I'm just looking for help in solving this mystery. I couldn't see my number on the heads. Expect pics of the door label and the motor at about 330

The LS6 is a higher-output version of GM's LS1 engine and retains the same capacity. The initial 2001 LS6 produced 385 bhp (287 kW) and 385 lbf·ft (522 N·m), but the engine was modified for 2002 through 2004 to produce 405 bhp (302 kW) and 400 lbf·ft (540 N·m) of torque. The LS6 was originally only used in the high-performance C5 Corvette Z06 model, with the Cadillac CTS V-Series getting the 400 bhp (300 kW) engine later. The V-Series used the LS6 for two years before being replaced by the LS2 in 2006. For 2006, the Z06 replaced the LS6 with the new LS7. The LS6 shares its basic block architecture with the GM LS1 engine, but other changes were made to the design such as windows cast into the block between cylinders, improved main web strength and bay to bay breathing, an intake manifold and MAF-sensor with higher flow, a camshaft with higher lift and more duration, a higher compression ratio of 10.5:1, sodium filled valves, and a revised oiling system better suited to high lateral acceleration.[3] LS6 intake manifolds were also used on all 2001–2002 LS1 engines. The casting number, located on the top rear edge of the block, is 12561168.

If your car came with it from the factory, and especially if there was a specific LS6 Edition of these cars, it would surely have either an RPO code for this designation, and not the big "LS1" RPO on the door, or if it was done by SLP, or whoever, it would say whatever code would correspond to this edition.
Earlier you mentioned it had an LS6 manifold among a list of other things that came on it. 01-02 came with the manifold.
It sounds like what's happened, is at some point in the past 10 years, some owner either pulled the LS1 motor, already having the intake manifold, many people for a mild upgrade and pretty cost effective, do a full LS6 heads and cam swap from a LS6 Z06, tuned it, and enjoyed a nice weekend cruiser. If it was one of the LS1 motors that came with the LS6 block, then even better to do the swap because now by swapping the appropriate heads and cam in, you've got Factory LS6 block, Factory LS6 intake manifold from your original LS1 motor, and your swapped in LS6 heads and cam. Only an idiot wouldn't get the thing tuned at that point.
The last possible thing was some specialty shop got it brand new, and wanted to make their own edition. Swapped in a legit LS6, and threw custom badges on to it and sold it to the public. There are lots of private shop and 'dealer editions' out there that aren't official, most are appearance crap tossed on, but some do things like performance upgrades. But none are actually official.
In the end, no matter what, you got a well performing Trans Am, with an LS6 one way or the other, for what you said was better than a run of the mill Trans Am with an LS1. So enjoy it, and don't bother looking any further into it.

As mentioned earlier they did put ls6 blocks in ls1 cars however they were still ls1 motors. The fact your block has an ls6 stamp does not make it valuable and your car will have the standard 241 stamped heads.
Look at the drivers side head at the front of the valve cover. It will say 241
Congratulations on your purchase however you have a run of the mill standard ws6

There was not one single F-body that came off the GM assembly line with a complete LS6 engine available for the public. Not a WS6, not an SS, not a Firehawk, and not any other trim level.
Your car came from the factory with an LS1 cam and heads. I am 100% certain of this. It may have had an LS6 block, and it certainly had an LS6 intake - but cam/heads would be LS1 all the way. There is zero chance of anything else. That's all there is to it.
You'll find that the SPID sticker on the driver's door jamb lists RPO "LS1", not "LS6". If the SPID isn't present or visable, then you can have any GM dealer run a VIS report that shows your build options (RPOs) and build date. This report will 100% certainly show "LS1".
And there is no chance that the GM contracted WS6 conversion plant (ASC) would have installed the LS6 because they didn't offer this option, at all.
At this point, it's entirely possible that your car in fact has a complete LS6 engine, and/or LS6 heads (243) since anything could have been modified in the last decade. But there is NO question about the fact that this car came originally with an LS1 heads/cam combo.
For the record, there was absolutely not ever an "LS6 Edition" WS6 from GM and/or ASC.

Looks like the seller didn't know either. O well I'm not mad bcuz I still got a great deal on it with low low miles and its in superb condition. And I'm stomping tuners with TT so no complaints.
Wasn't 100 sure on this and thats y I brought it to u all here. Thanks for all the good info and help!
Now that I've learned once again don't believe everything I'm taking it to gm on my day off to see if I have a true ls6 block or not. Fingers crossed. Many projects to come on this Badass bird!!

It came out of either the Nashville or Memphis area didn't it? I talked to that guy a few months ago or longer...he was a real idiot! I was interested in the car for what I knew it was...a regular WS6 but he just kept on about it being a LE LS6 car and I told him they never made such a thing that it was just a WS6 with LS6 block...and STICKERS on the fender. I think he knew it but was trying to rip somebody off....I guess he did (well maybe didn't rip you off because the car is nice...but sold it to you under misguided means.)

I checked the block #s when the motor was out of my 01 last time and it an LS1 block.
I had never heard of the bullseye thing, and just checked. Sure enough it is there.

It came out of Arkansas. I was deployed when I bought it though so I just assumed it was a regular ws6 and paid regular ws6 price. Wasn't till later that I got the ls6 story. Like I said no biggie i still got a great deal. And I haven't looked at the bullseye thing. Is it on the head or block itself?
