Mint condition low low milage V8 3rd gens are selling for almost what they did new from the '87-'92 years. I also recently saw a MINT '92 yellow GTA 'vert with under 10K miles on it sell for close to $20K. That's about what it was new.

Don't be foolish, as long as there are people that like these cars, there will be people willing to pay top dollar for mint condition ones in the future.

People are already starting to restore 3rd gens. I see the repo parts for sale on E-bay and from Year One. Thrid gens were way more common in there day than 4th gens are now. So why would LS1s be any less popular than TPI cars to restore down the line?

I say, do what makes you happy with your own car. Don't count on it being worth anything as an investment, but, don't be surprised if you see a totally mint late 4th gen V8 car sell for $30K in 20-30 years.

Honestly(this is just my opinion) but it will all come down to how people perceive these cars that far down the line. With the way our world is quickly changing/developing, who really knows? I could be very wrong, but I just don't see people 20+ years from now viewing near-perfect 4th gen F-bodies the same way a lot of us view older muscle cars today.

BTW, look forward to getting out to Photo's again. I'll be getting my car back in three weeks. I really miss talking cars with others. Let's meet up there again sometime soon. Does it always have to be on a Saturday?! That is not always my best time.

No matter how you look at it, cars are bad investments. It takes you 20 years just to sell them for their original price. Put that money into the stock market and in 20 years you would turn $30k into probably $200k or more. A car will never make you that much money.

Drive em and enjoy em!

Patman you are right! As I too said earlier in this thread, cars really are a bad investment. I can think of many ways to get a better return on my money.

Mike, you can count on me being back at Photos come spring. Saturday is when we go basically because that's when the show is. I really don't have time to go any other night anyway, my work scheudule makes week nights almost impossibile and Sunday is for me and the wife

Oh, and about how people will perceive muscle cars 20+ years from now with the way the world is changing....remember the gas crisis of the early '70s? Rememeber all the big block cars sitting in peoples' back yards because they couldn't pay for the gas? This country has been through gas issues before. This too will blow over, gas will probably be the main power source for cars for at least the next 30+ years, IMO.
