SS Camaros
"In 2001 they built 5773 Z06 Corvettes out of over 35,000 Corvettes.
In 2001 they built 6332 SS Camaros out of 29,000 total Camaros. Of those 5373 were Y2Y SLP second sticker cars wich makes these cars actually MORE rare than the Z06. About 12,600 Camaros in 2001 got the LS1 - so about half of the LS1 Camaros are SS and the other half are Z28s. Either way both are just about as "rare" as a 2001 Z06. 2001 Camaros in general are more rare than a 2001 Corvette. 2001 LS1 Camaros are MUCH more rare than the 2001 Corvette."
-- direct quote, please look above in there is any doubt. And this isn't to start any controversy, just clarifying what he was trying to make his point directed towards, there was no indication of an argument of speed, just rarity.

Thanks for posting and enjoy your car.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
The fact is, there is no performance advantage between the two. None. You need to get Y2Y options (suspension/345hp package) to make any significant gains in stock form. IMO, a SS is a Chevrolet vehicle that had been contracted to build by SLP (just like ASC for the WS6). When you throw Y2Y into the mix, it becomes a tuner car like a Saleen for example - the SCCA feels the same way too...
The following cars were modified by GMMG, Inc. in Marietta, GA:
Carl Black Blackbird WS6's
Berger Chevrolet Berger SS's
Tom Henry Racing SS's
Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS's
Hot Rod Magazine Camaros
ZL1 Supercars
Dick Harrell/Berger Supercars
"Some" 35th Anniversary SS's if they were sent there for the Performance Package Edition conversion
Thanks.

Think GMMG would do a "remanufacture" of a car? Like a frame off restoration of a first gen I guess - strip it down and build it again, but with a bunch of goodies like a 427 and all that?
That's what my guess would have been, but I wasn't sure.
Thanks.
