After reading this thread I find it amazing that there is so much confusion. So many people getting such bad information from so called "SS" owners who don't even know where thier cars came from. 3.08 gears..........base models in house........geez. hopefully no Ford guys are reading this. I am in no way bashing the OP cause he knows how they are done. its the overall conceptions.

if it went to SLP it most likely has the chrome zr1 wheels and SLP box and Auburn 3:55 rear end. I personally have an SLP SS for sale for 10k if anyones interested. It has the door stickers and Wu8 and Y2y codes.

The SLP lid is aftermarket, the one that came from GM is either the stocker or the blackwing, and your car didnt come with a 3.55 gear....

I don't know alot about the SS's & hawks, but some of these responses are funny as hell..3.08 & 3.55 gears is the topper..I agree with some of the posts, all SS's & Hawks went to SLP, only gear options are 3.23 & 3.42, Then you can add a bunch of other overpriced **** that SLP sells, like shocks, Springs, chrome rims, Exhaust..etc..etc..

GM didn't even have any advertising budget for the SS. It was all put together and promoted by SLP with their money with no guarantees that even one SS would be ordered/built.
You guys who don't know what you're talking about need to hush up.

Every SS made from 1996-2002 regardless of content, came to SLP.
All Firehawks went through our assembly lines as well as all Comp T/A's.
All 1996-1997 WS6's were done at our facility and per an agreement with ASC a bunch of later model WS6's were also produced by SLP.

All SS's went to SLP
I have a base SS with no SLP sticker but my car is numbered by SLP......I had the car up for sale for a while and someone who was interested wanted my VIN to check with SLP and see which build number it is.........He ended up not buying the car but he did tell me what the build number was according to SLP.............I just dont remember what he said
