Was the Z28 SS available as an "Appearance Only" package?

According to GM, the "base" SS package consists of:
"SS" Performance and
Appearance Package: Includes
320-hp, forced air system,
275/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1
speed-rated tires, 17"
aluminum wheels, enhanced
spoiler, specific low-
restriction dual exhaust
system, power steering
cooler, high performance
ride and handling package,
"SS" badging and 3.42 axle
ratio with 6-speed manual or
3.23 axle ratio with 4-speed
automatic transmission (not
available with Sport
Appearance package)
However, I'm being told by someone else on here (in another thread) that the SS could be ordered with ONLY the SS hood, SS spoiler, SS wheels and badges but without getting any of the "performance" SS upgrades listed above as part of the "base" SS package? Has anyone else ever heard of this?

The answer is NO
They have two levels of the SS package the base SS backage w/ no SLP 2nd sticker content which is the package listed above, and then the 2nd sticker content (this is where you get the white SLP sticker on the passenger side door with listed SLP options, exhaust, wheels, exhaust, car cover, key fobs, ect...)

hey guys, just a heads up, but if the car never came with the y2y option rpo code, it never got A sticker to begin with, i understand your talking about the passenger door sticker, but the drivers door where it says this car has been altered by slp blah blah blah, if it was a standard ss that door sticker never existed on an ss. on a y2y car
This is backyards, the drivers side sticker list the RPO codes, which can be found on any F-body. If you found a Y2Y code on 1998-2001 models, it meant you had second sticker options. The second sticker would be affixed to the passenger's side door. In 2002 all SLP bound vehicles got the Y2Y code, due to dealers not properly ordering 2nd sticker content for customers, this forced dealers to continue to the 2nd sticker options.
I have a Base or "GM" SS. The difference from a Z28 is the 10-spoke wheels, High flow exhaust (identified by round tips versus rectangular Z28 tips), SS emblems, SLP installed Hood, and SLP installed Spoiler.

I am almost 100% certain that all SS's went to SLP. No matter how many options were ordered. They had to go to SLP to get the hood, spoiler and wheels. If your car has RPO WU8 it should have a SLP sticker. If you ever wonder you can call SLP and give them your VIN and they will give you the build number of your car.
