SS badge was whored out.
Kudos to SLP for offering a nice performance package for the G8.
I will voice my opinion regarding the name by not buying one.

Why not call it the Pontiac G8 G-Force...a name that would complement the *** kicking power it claims to come with. Or the G8 Gambler....way better than G8 Firehawk??? You know its kinda funny when you think of SLP's badge naming abilities. They should call up the bowling ball manufacturers for advice...Brunswick and Ebonite seem to have a knack for coming up with catchy, fitting names for bowling *****!!

Well I guess when they roll out the new Firehawks I'm just gonna debadge my ORIGINAL 02 FIREHAWK. Maybe it'll get mistaken for a WS6 and I can get some respect then. The new Firehawk shares NOTHING in common with the original ones like many of us proud (soon to be pissed) Firehawk owners have pointed out repeatedly through this and many other threads. You coulda named that G8 POS something else but I guess lack of research and imagination will always lead to bad management decisions like this. Dave H, you coulda asked us what we thought it should be called, set up a contest to name your next endevour and we would of helped. Thanks for turning your back and trashing a name plate of automotive history for us. Great job guys....
I can't believe I didn't curse once that whole rant but OMG I wanted to.....![MAD](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_mad.gif)

In my opinion, bad decision by SLP to use the Firehawk name on a G8. The G8's platform was givin a new name, why not give the performance version a new name? The Firehawk name will always be associated with the firebird, peroid. I see no reason for this. Don't get me wrong, a performance version of the G8 is a good idea, is a new name all that difficult? I'd like to see how many people actually like the name Firehawk on a G8.

This is all most enough to make me sell my Firehawk and buy a Cobra. If I would have never put Strano/Koni's on it there would be no question.
I bought my Firehawk because it wasn't a run of the mill T/A. Now they are putting it on a car that's not a Firebird. Now I understand how old school Pontiac guys felt when they released the new GTO's.
SLP did this to make money. It's a shame that they are basically kicking every Firehawk owner in the nuts.
I don't know what to say. I'd rant but it wouldn't do any good.
I bet they wouldn't put the Z06 or ZR1 badge on anything except a Vette. Those guys would have a fit! But they still make Vettes and cost more than any F Body ever did.

You guys are taking this a little too far. Did a 1st Gen Camaro SS go down in value because they made a Cobalt SS? The cars are completely un-related. Maybe if they brought the Firebird back and made the Firehawk package a ***** 4 banger with no options, then yeah, that would suck.

Lets review Chevrolet history. The "SS" was on other cars BEFORE the Camaro. Try the Impala, Chevelle, Nova, etc... The "SS" was never a Camaro-only trim level. It was NEVER a special name. In fact, the first generation Camaro SS was looked at as a LOWER level than the Z28. The 67-69 Z28s still are worth more and are more desirable than an SS of the same era.
The Firehawk was ONLY on the Firebird. The BEST factory Firebird, ever. It has never been a lame brand to slap on multiple models. It should not be compared to the "SS" at all.
