ok...let me change that to "inexpensive"
What would the same motor cost with a stock crank. 4.03 iron block with stock crank and good enough pistons and rods to handle 700 rwhp on juice.

On the 347 can you get it to about 14:1 compression for about the same price?

That would be in the custom piston range. You would add 200 to the price.

What would an all motor, budget, 408 shortblock run with 11.25:1 static compression?

Does this mean we could get an Eagle crank 408 for around $3200? I would love to order a 408 but don't have the extra coin to stretch for the Callies. I am ready to order if so.

I have a turbo car also and would be doing the group purchase with Byardog. What would you charge for new heads nothing to big stage 1 or 2, upgraded valve terain, lifters, pushrods and rockers?

Guys this is a great deal. AP knows their stuff. The eagle crank is cheep but needs alot of machine work and haven't been proven yet. Be careful and do some research if your considering the Eagle crank.

At this time we will be shying away from Eagle cranks until they are a known good part. The eagle rods are known good and will be used. Second problem is supply of the eagle cranks. 850 for a crank that needs 400-600 for balancing makes you within 200-400 of a callies that will take a 1000 hp.

Slowverado- all depends on what pins and what rings you want to upgrade to.

Hey Brian what is the bore and stroke of a 370 cubic inch motor?
I am guessing a 3.622 stroke with a 4.32 bore. Is this correct?
If so and I use flat top pistons stock head gaskets (.052-.054) and a .0008 deck height I come up with 11.05: C/R. Is this about right?

For those going FI setup I will post some info that should help.
Trying to get to 8.5:1 CR is what the avarage FI person shoots for.
With a stock set of LS1 (66.67)heads and no milling with a 347 cubic inch motor you will need, Piston's with a -18 dish.
With 6.0 Liter heads (71.06) in a 347 you will need a -13.5 dish.
With LS6 heads (64.45) you will need a -20 dish in the pistons.

Going with a 370 cubic inch motor.
Stock LS1 heads -23 dish
Stock 6.0 (LQ9) heads -19 dish
Stock LS6 heads -25 dish

Using a 408 motor
Stock LS1 heads -34 dish
Stock LQ9 heads -29.5 dish
Stock LS6 heads -36 dish

This is using a .052" head gasket and no milling to the heads.
Hope I am correct and hope this helps when building your motor with APE.
