Vengeance Racing Drop in Piston Kit for LT1!!! The Gen V LT1 engine is capable of producing some serious horsepower. Many shops and individuals have proven this over the last several years. Unfortunately, for too many of us, we have found that the stock pistons/rings are the weak link when used in forced induction applications above 700RWHP.
With the Gen V LT1 engine requiring cylinder head removal as well as oil pan removal for installation of an aftermarket Cam Kit, we decided this would be a perfect opportunity to replace the pistons to ensure an increased level of reliability in our builds. The next step was to design a forged piston that is not only stronger than the OE piston, but also one that could be used as a direct drop in with no balancing/machining. We do recommend a light hone on any engine for a smooth cylinder wall prior to installation.
We have installed our piston kit on several of our builds and have been extremely pleased with the success of these pistons. We recommend our drop in pistons to roughly 850rwhp although we have had customer cars at over 1000rwhp on this setup. After the 850rwhp we recommend tearing into the motor for a build with custom pistons and rods.
