Ok, since everyone wants to ask the detailed questions:

1) how much for pistons being coated, skirt and face?

2) and whats the estimated lead time, from time of deposit to ready to ship?

Charlie

CAT,
1.) $25 each for the tops, $14 each for the skirts.
2.) Lead time, will be based on when the order is placed. As you can probably imagine, each day it is getting worse with theamount of orders that are coming in. If you ordered right now, you would be within a 3-4 week window. You still have our on time guarantee to fall back on also.

Thanks

Thanks for the timely response.
Now, how do you feel about the piston coatings? And any difference on the skirts compared to tops. Seems a lot of debate, skirts usually being more accepted, but the tops being more skeptical. Just curious as to your thoughts?

Thanks again.

on time guarantee, they give you a date your motor will be completed when you order it, if they don't make the date, it's free. granted, you can't make changes to your order mid build to try to circumvent that date to get a free motor. I believe changes to the order also change the completion date.

correct me if I'm wrong Chris.

What bore size on the iron blocks?

The 408 with a 4" stroke would imply 4.030" bore. But then for the Cheap Street 360 iron block, with a 3.622" stroke, 4.03" bore would be 370ci, so 4.000" bore at 364ci is closer to the stated 360ci. The small amount of difference in cubes wouldn't matter to me, but I'm curious if there is enough liner left to hone and rebuild with larger pistons if needed later on? I haven't searched exhaustively, but most places seem to only have Diamond pistons in 4.030" and 4.060" bores, and I've heard blocks need to be sonic tested to know if they can take a 4.060 bore. So if I get an iron block that's 4.03" to start with, can I rebuild it without going up to 4.060" pistons, which the particular block I get might not be acceptable to bore to?

Do you ever do offset ground stock cranks, BTW? How much would that cost on the 346 or 360?

Thanks,
Miles

Miles,
The bore on both the 360 & 408 is 4.030". I t should be called the 370 cheap street. Typo on our part. You can rehone these blocks after they are at 4.030". Most blocks will go to 4.060 but you should sonic check before doing so. You can go to 4.040 for your next rebuild size.
We do not offer offset ground cranks for our engines. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks

Have you ever heard of any problems with the eagle connecting rods? Is the ls2 short block good for 7000 you think also?

Can I get a total price on this shortblock with FORGED crank, turbo pistons (around -31cc) and 4 bolt mains splayed? Are the pistons considered "custom" or do you have a turbo piston available? I could definitely be in on this by Monday.

Thanks Chris. Do you think 7200-7300 rpm on a regular "drag racing" basis will be o.k. with this motor? Do you think the callies option crank is better suited for this kind of rpm?

Chris, can you post the LS2 block prices, I'm looking for a shortblock that will eventually be for FI. How does the ordering work, do you need _% deposit then payment in full before shipping? Do you take credit cards deposits? Thx

LS2 Shortblock prices are on page 1.

We need a minimum of 50% deposit up front to get the ball rolling. Once we are nearing the completion date and getting ready to ship we will call for final payment.

We take all cards except AmEx, and no Paypal.

Thanks,
Nick

As of today, I have yet to see a Eagle rod fail due to the rod itself. We have used a lot of Eagle rods and have never had a problem.
The LS2 short will be good for 7000 rpm too.

Thanks

You will be fine running that RPM. The Callies is a better crank in general and will not have a problem running that RPM. Saying that, the Eagle will not have a problem either.

Thanks

Hello Guys.

Great sale!

Questions on the 427 shortblock:

1) In general are the pistons flush with the deck or are they out of the hole? If out, how much? I would like to know so I can see if my heads will work.

2) Also, how big is the dish on the included pistons?

3) As of today, roughly what is the lead time for the 427 shortblock once deposit has been received? I would want to upgrade to the Callies rods that were mentioned ($350) and also coating the pistons (skirts & top)

You can email me - plewand@soflinks.com

Thanks, Perry
