UMI's 2010 Camaro Project- Autox and Road Race
We have owned our 2010 Camaro SS for over 4 years now. We have done some minor modifications to it and used it in a lot of street and light autox testing but we have not competed in any events with the car yet. In order to help us expand our 2010+ 5th gen Camaro product line we will be working on this car and converting it to autox and road race while it still maintains good street characteristics.
Our 2010 is headed to Pittsburgh International Race Complex this weekend for the Orange Cone Racing event. This will give us a good feeling on the car with little work done. We are going to began by tuning up a few little things to prepare the car for its first event. Because of time restraints we are limited to what we can do at this time. Once we return we will began working heavier on the car and making changes.
Stay tune as we update this thread and build on this car.
Here are a few pictures from the day we got the car back in May of 2010.

Since the first event we are running is this weekend we didn't have a lot of time to source new wheels. We plan on using a set of Forgestar's but they are a 6-8 week lead time. So for now we powder coated the factory wheels until a new set arrives.
Bridgette coated these here in our booth and they came out looking great.

A few suspension modifications, we swapped out the the rear polyurethane trailing arms and toe rod arms for newer items with Roto-Joints for better articulation.
We also installed our proto-type front sway bar and end link kit.
Tomorrow the car heads to its first event, the Ohio Muscle Car Challenge where it will run the 1.6 mile road course and auto-x track. Unfortunately do to some issues with other cars we couldn't get to a shock swap or to install the new Hurst shifter so we will do that once we return. At least we can get some better testing in almost stock form.

Our 2010 attended its first event and as we predicted did very well. A little more seat time and driver skill could have knocked a second off but for a mostly stock vehicle and our driver Simon having his first ever road course experience we were happy.
The Ohio Muscle Car Challenge held at Pitt Race featured a dual event with a 1.6 mile road course and Sunday auto-x event. Simon brought home a 3rd place overall (Road race and auto-x combined) in the ABS class.
We have a lot easy improvements to make the vehicle and product ideas in the works so stay tuned.

Here are a few pictures of our Camaro at Holley LS Fest this past weekend. We completed the autox and 3S Challenge in the car. We made some changes to the car since the last event that we were very impressed with, the major change was adding Afco coil overs to the car. I will post some pictures of them shortly.

One of the biggest improvements we have made to the car so far is the Afco shocks and springs that work as a coil over. We also added the Afco camber plates that come with the package as well. The kit lowered the car 1" and we were able to get 2.25 degrees of negative camber. The kit installed super easy and so far added huge improvements in how the car feels, reacts and rides. The car is headed back to Pittsburgh International Race Complex for an Optima event in the beginning of October, this is were we can use data to see the real improvements.

Sorry to lack of updates on this, trying to get caught back up.
Here's a few shots of our Camaro at Optima Ultimate late in 2014. The car did very well, especially for being on the stock P-zero tires.
A few alignment adjustments and changes were made.
For 2015 we are running a set of OZ Racings wheels, 19" with 275's on all four corners. For tires we are using the new Bridgestone RE71R's, excellent tire.
Installed a set of new UMI aluminum end links and our new fabricated adjustable rear sway bar.

Now on to 2015. A few pictures from our first event of the year, autocross at the Super Summit Atlanta Motorama. We were able to run the 4th fastest lap time in our 5th gen. We also participated in the new Share the Ride program and gave over 50 rides that weekend.

A few updates on our car.
We installed a MGW Shifter before heading out to participate in the Midwest Muscle Car Challenge held at Putnam Park Road course. Our Camaro's fastest lap time was 1:23.59 and ran mid pack all day.
After a full day of racing and around 60 laps around the course we had an awful noise coming from the rear area. The rear axle boot had ripped letting all the grease out and drying the axle up. We have had lots of trouble with the boots in the past, most likely because the car is lowered. The car had to be driven home 10 hours since there was no room in the trailer for it. Thank goodness Raymond's Performance was close by and had a stock take off axle laying right next to him when we called. It was a life saver. We did a quick swap in the hotel parking lot to get the car home.
Z28 axle upgrade will be soon.

Trying to keep with the updates here. I have a few to still post but I'll start with this past weekend.
We ran the Ohio Muscle Car Challenge at Pitt Race this past weekend. The event included Track Cross on Friday night, full 1.6 mile road course all day Saturday and an autocross set up by SCCA on Sunday. The car performed very well at all three but I feel doing it's best on the road course. We were able to run the road course 2 seconds faster this year over last year which is a huge improvement in both the car and drivers.

Exhaust time.
We chose the full 3" pipes and outlaw mufflers from Flowmaster to support the various engine upgrades planned for the off-season. This system should be good to go for many years for us.
The headers fit great and so did the complete system. The complete system was designed for high flow cats which we aren't running so we are welding in a pipe to take place of the cats.
