Default Kenwood DNX 7140

Well just dropped the coin for a new 7140. $1019.00 ouch that hurts but I'm psyched about having the indash GPS and better quality head unit.
Ed

I have an extra bezel. I notice the double din units people are selling look like a lot more work for the camaro. For the Trans am do I just have to open mine up or am I going to need to bondo it like the camaro.

The 6140 is the top of the Kenwood line with the 6" screen, and volume **** and buttons on the side. The 5140 and 6140 also only have 2 sets of pre outs; a front set and a set switchable for rear or sub.

The 7140 goes to the 7" screen, but you lose the volume **** and get volume and other control buttons under the screen instead. The 7140 and higher units have pre outs for front, rear, and sub.

Some places actually have the 8120 for less than the 7140, of course they are unauthorized dealers. Since the 8120 is last years model, I don't know if any authorized dealers are still selling it online.

Keeaudio's website only lists last year's models for sale, so I might be wrong but I doubt he is an authorized Kenwood dealer. Of course as long as he or any other online dealer warranties their product, I don't see where it matters all that much anyhow.

Last year, the 7120 and 8120 were basically the same except that the 8120 had built-in Bluetooth and the 7120 required an external adapter (there were some other minor differences). Now the 7140 has built-in Bluetooth so the 8120 is not really a step up anymore. The new top of the line is the 9140 which has 5.1 DSP, extra inputs, and onscreen control of external devices such as garage door openers.

What fill do they use to modify the bezel. I was thinking of using fiberglass?
what do you guys recommend.

Most have been using bondo (body filler) in conjunction with the flat trim bezel that comes with the head unit. There are several threads with photos of work-in-progress modifying the factory bezel for double DIN - a search on "double DIN" should bring up lots of information.

Also, 6litereater has modified bezels for sale in this thread.
