Volfenhags are a great sub in my opinion. They are dirt cheap, but they don't sound dirt cheap. Buy them... if you don't like them, then you aren't out much money.

I have had an MTX 10 inch Road Thunder for five years now, been in three cars, and sounds great..it cost me 50 bucks new. It doesn't pound like a 200 dollar sub, but does great with all sorts of music. The only thing is it doesn't hit the real low bass very loud. I have it hooked to a pyramid 1000 watt peak amp, which is also five years old. I think it also depends on the head unit with the rca output needed for a high quality signal. Buy them and post a review, I have been looking for a better sub, maybe JL audio.

I would stay away from volfenhagen.. Kind of subs you would find at a flea market and such.. If you want something cheap and that will sound decent kicker cvr's, fosgate p2's, or even the refurbed kicker l5's you can find for 100 or so bucks and with a well built box they will sound great.

Have you ever heard Volfenhags? Do you just not like them because they are cheap? I am not calling you out, just curious. Before I had heard them I thought they sucked just because of the price. After I heard them, they sounded more like a quality sub then I thought they would.

I would buy them if I was into that sort of thing. I used to be into audio, but don't really care much about it anymore.

Volfenhag is one of the brands I have access to that I don't carry. They look beefy as heck bit there voice coils are not very good. Price is not my motivation when it comes to audio...quality of materials and sound are the 2 biggest points in my book. I've heard alot of cheap stuff sound decent but the longevity and sound quality over time always seems to deteriorate with the cheaper stuff.
I have used there amps in a couple of very low budget installs (2000watt Volfenhag amp and 2 15" MP Audio subs ported in the trunk of an old Caddy) and they did hit pretty well but I am still wary of the quality.
IMO spend a little more on a better quality sub so you don't have to spend it again down the road.

I dno bout Volfenhag, I had a 1000w amp from them awhile ago that I (laugh out loud) bought from a flea market... needless to say, it was way underpowered.

This vid is interesting, im sure they are loud, but no clarity to them:

Yeah i used to work a very good audio shop(jl,fosgate, boston was all we sold) and we had people come in these all the time because another local shop would sell them for insanely high prices for what they were. Subs were okay at best. Amps were absolute peices of SH$T

I agree...the amp I used was a "2000watt" ZX-8400.
Actual RMS power output:
200 watts x 2 @ 4ohms
300 watts x 2 @ 2ohms
and
600 watts x 1 bridged
How they got 2000watts is quite comical. It was enough to push 2 15" POS MP Audio subs in a ported enclosure though. That's what the customer wanted and had the money for though....
The zx4810dvx subs pictured in the second and third video are Volfenhag's best subs...they have big magnets, cast frames, and a large surround. They also have a tiny 1.5" voice coil that will blow easily. I have 6.5" woofers that have larger voice coils. A sub that size should have at least a 2.5"-3" voice coil.
Again, the money would be better spent on something else.

Well, I had a friend with 2 12" Volfenhags, with some old Alpine amp he had laying around. It was a cheap set up, but I was impressed that some cheap *** subs sounded so well. I wouldn't know anything about their amps.

IMO just break down and get a JL W7, I did, and I can promise you that you will never regret it. JL W7 > Any sub mentioned in this thread.

w7s are great subs! Prob the best sounding sub in the world, but i dont think this is exactly what he is looking for. I dont think he is willing to go out and spend 600+ a woofer! Based on that thats why i mentioned what i did

Cheap, horrible sound quality. If you want to just make noise and **** off your neighbors, go for it.
