I don't think I have the Monsoon....
I got my speakers and am in the middle of the installation...I need help. I have a 1998 Camaro convertible. I have the options sheet on the car that says it has the Monsoon stereo. I took out my left door speaker and it had a coaxial speaker with only two wires coming to the back of it. 1 Brown wire 1 Gray wire. I have seen all the posts with 2 ohm speakers mine says 4 ohms.
I bought the CDT kit from Kee audio for the convertible. I know there are not seperate tweets with a coaxial speaker...correct? Can I hook up the tweeter wires and car harness wires to the mid/woofer connections and make a coaxial/component speaker or am I hosed?

Thanks for the information. I had U62 on my door. I guess I get to install a few more components. I had a code UN0 on the build sheet that said Monsoon Premium Audio System Elec Tuned. This code was on the door too.
I guess this means it doesn't have it.

For the Firebird coupe, a W54 code is the cassette version of the Monsoon and a W55 code is the CD version. But it's easier than that... the Monsoon system was the only available audio system that had speakers in the hatch area (both Camaro and Firebird). If you have hatch speakers it's a Monsoon otherwise it's not.

I apologize for the hijack, but I am not sure if I have it either.
My 98 Z28 with RPO's UL0 and UZ7 have the hatch speakers, but no amp in the RR quarter.
Is this system completely powered by the head, or is there another location for an amp?
Thanks

If the amp isn't there, it is possible that a previous owner removed it under the mistaken impression that the system wasn't upgradeable using the stock amp. There is a seemingly endless number of so-called professional installers who believe that as well.
