Default Worth it to get a aftermarket amp?

So I have the fronts and sails replaced. Fronts have Alpine speakers that are rated at 80watts rms, and I have some elemental design 6inchers in the sail panel.
Would it be worth it for me to amp these 4 speakers with a aftermarket amp? Like just a 500 watt or something split between the 4? I'm not sure what the monsoon amp puts out to compare to to see if it would really be a difference but yea.

I was thinking the same thing. I have an JL Audio 6 channel amp in my Civic and I Love it but.......the sound in our cars is still really good and to have to replace the amp and ALL of the wiring?????? Our sound system is a pretty good setup. I like good quality sound. I'm not a BOOM BOOM BOOM kind of person so for me right now it's no. If you are one of those guy's that like it loud enough for the guy 3 cars up to hear then i would think yes.

I obviously don't have the stock hu lol. Haven't for years. I would like someone to chime in that switched from the stock amp with a hu and speakers to a aftermarket one though. If you changed the amp at the same time as the head unit, of course it'll sound better simply because of the head unit alone. I wanna know HOW MUCH better it would be to change a amp after everything else has been done. As said above, I wanna know if its worth all the trouble to rewire everything

FWIW...the '02 sales brochure lists the Monsoon amp at 500 watts, peak output. My stereo guy contends that premium speaker upgrade is the answer for best performance from a "stock" system...

I heard that to, but I heard in reality it was like 250watts peak? I still can't decide on if I wanna change it or not since it is alot of work to basically rewire the entire sound system lol

The Monsoon amp is about 240 watts RMS (500 watts ILS - If Lightning Strikes). That's into eight channels so it's about 30 watts RMS per channel. It's not a bad amp for what it does but it is somewhat underpowered. However, remember that you need 10 times the power to get double the volume so it might not be worth all the work to rewire for a small increase in power (e.g. going to 500 watts would add about 3dB or one click on the volume ****).

Yea, considering I plan to do 4 speakers not all 6 cause idc about the way back. I'm guessing if I got a decent 500 or 750watt amp and split it into the fronts and sail panels I would get somewhere around 60-90watts then?

Do you want louder sound (or is your sound distorting due to your amp at your current level)? If yes, get an amp. If not, don't get an amp.

Get a Good Amp, Id get something within the range of 50-100 rms x 4 @ 4ohm.
I also recommend sound deadening inside the sail panels and doors.
