Question Question: area in cabin to run wires to underneath car

i'm planning on installing a wideband and was wondering if there's any access holes that goes from the interior to the bottom/outside of the car near the "Y" pipe goes into one pipe.

thanks in advance

The rear seat passenger footwell will probably be your closest entry point. There's a rubber grommet right there you can go through. There are some just forward of that area too if I'm not mistaken.

I went through the shifter opening in the trans tunnel. This way you avoid having any dangling low hanging wires/cables. The Only modification I did was to grind a small half circle up into the front of the shifter opening to minimize any pinching of the cable, but still have a snug fit.

Through the shifter opening, how hard to access to the trans tunnel?

If you try to go through the shifter opening, dropping the cross-member would be the easiest. It still won't leave you a ton of room, but should be workable.

No need to drop the cross-member.
Just put the car up on ramps or jack stands, then remove the top section of the center console and the rubber boot that mounts to the trans tunnel.

It's easier when you have fat hands like me to drop it...it's only 5 bolts.

my initial idea was installing it on the stock "Y" pipe but totally forgot about the cat converter....DOH!! maybe i should wait to install the WB until i get a hold of a pair of headers? i know the cat converters will cool the exhaust gases some if the WB sensor is installed at the "Y" giving inaccurate readings.

i also read that its not a good idea to install only one WB sensor on only one side of the manifold but accurately need 2 one on each side. i was hoping to tune the car's fueling as it sits but having only one WB and on stock exhaust kinda sucks at the moment.....any ideas/suggestions?

I always tuned my with a WBO2 on one bank...I put mine in the driver's side since it always ran leaner between the two on my Camaro.

You can always try it in one bank, log some data, and put it in the other to see which one runs leaner on yours. Once you figure it out, just leave the WB there since it will always give you the most conservative tune.

i recall the driver side bank tends to read leaner cause of how firing order was or something? if thats the case i'll just have one bung hole welded on the driver side before the cat converter. also how hard is it to get a bung hole welded there while still on the car?

I am dealing with this subject as well, i think it was B&M or Autometer that has a wiring kit that if u install 2 sensors u could toggle back and forth between the 2. I dont think installing one side is very helpfull for tuning. There are two independant banks, really one side no way. My 1 sensor will be welded where the two go into 1 before the cat or after if the cat has been hollowed out like mine...makes more sense to me that way. Right?

im planning on taking teh car to an exhaust shop-midas exhaust downt he street. how tight is it to install/weld an O2 bung before the cat on the driver's side? also is there a wire grommet on the driver side where the pedals are to get the wires down there easier rather than through the shifter tunnel? the guy on the phone estimated anywhere between $40-90 depending on labor of where it'll be placed.

Stock manifolds and cats? If so, they won't be able to get in there to weld anything without dropping the exhaust. It would be possible with LT headers, but not the stock stuff.

can i still install/weld a bung hole just after the cat on the drivers side for the time being to get it somewhat dialed in while i look to buy a set of headers?
