Default New Stereo with Double-din

I've seen a few posts around with people wondering if we can fit double-din players in our cars. Most of you probably know we can as long as we have a double-din kit done, but I figured I'd post this for those that weren't sure or wanted to know what it would look like.

I just picked up the car and here's a couple pics ( Sorry they're so fuzzy). Also had all the speakers replaced with Alpine Type S speakers and added a Rockford 12" P2 subwoofer and amp. Also had the kit installed so I can still use the steering wheel buttons. It's a Pioneer bluetooth player with a backup camera. Nothing too crazy but still sounds pretty damn good imo.

Wow, didn't realize that first picture was THAT fuzzy. My bad. I'll try and add a better pic later.

you adjust those headlight covers yet? Also you say "It's an Alpine bluetooth player" when even through the fuzzy picture it is very clearly a PIONEER unit.

Haha oops, fixed it.

And I adjusted them a lil but for some reason there's still a lil gap with the headlights that I can't seem to narrow down. Probably just need to mess with it a lil more.

Not a big fan of stereo systems in a performance car, but that double din looks pretty good!

Haha we got the exact same sub/amp setup

Any reason you didn't go with a stealth box since you only put in one sub?

I'm not sure. The guys who did it said I could do a 10'' sub or a 12'' slim sub but I didn't want either of those and that's how they said the box has to be for the right airflow. Maybe that's not right? Not totally sure.

How do you like your sub and amp setup?

Thanks! I'm not either really but I had two speakers out or going out so I decided to replace those. Then I wanted Bluetooth for my phone and music, then I wanted the backup camera, and then I just couldn't stop and added the sub and amp.

for a ported box, which has to be like double the cubic footage of a sealed, that is the least intrusive (not blocking seats or t-top storage) way to do it.

whats wrong with stereos in performance cars? If the car isn't a drag car then you shouldn't have any noticeable effects on the cars performance from adding the weight of a small child to the car, if it's that big a deal pull the spare tire and jack and bang there's like half the weight this setup adds.

I just personally don't want to add more weight to a car that I'm looking to go 'fast' in and have fun in. Personal preference, nothing 'wrong' with it.

^^ with almost 700 hp I don't think it will make much of a difference, that's the reason I didn't care too much with this car

Gotcha, it's ported, obviously, but doesn't stick up past the seats very much and doesn't affect visibility at all.

Really like it, bass hits hard and clear, but I have it in a stealth box so it might sound different in your larger box.

Like everything, there's moderation. Stuffing 10 subs in the back of a vette is stupid, but my entire setup added no more than 40lbs and defninetly worth the improve in sound quality especially in a track-DD car. Not to mention that within 30 seconds I can pop the hatch and remove my stealth sub box if I really feel I need to lose 20lbs

Huh? I don't ever really need to put anything in the back. Fits the t-tops and that's all I need

Think he means that you may have killed your rear visibility

That's certainly true but when you have a 20+ second Monte in your signature, weight might be more of a consideration.
