Default f ed up big time

guys i was putting new speakers in my car and ran all new wires so i had my gauge cluster out...i cut the old wires for the old headunit and did new ones for the speakers when i cut the wires i did see a spark and i thought **** i hope i didnt do anything bad.... well the headunit has no power and i went to plug the gauge cluster back in and the rpm guage doesnt work neither does the mile odemeter and none of my lights come up on the screen when i turn the ignition on except the seatbelt light what did i mess up now guys....

I thought rule number one was "Disconnect the battery"...

yes i checked the gauge fuse like i said half of it works the other half doesnt the stuff that works are seatbelt light oil pressure and the battery gauge the stuff that doesnt work is amount of gas in it the rpm gauge the engine temp gauge and all the light when u turn your car on i really need help guys anyone know what to do now

you may have shorted out your cluster. sparks are no good

i know but how would the stereo wires affect the cluster if i bring it to a gm dealer would they be able to tell me what is going on .... the car does start up fine and run like normal though

doublecheck your fuses... very carefully. Every power lead in the car is fused, highly unlikely you would damage anything besides just blowing a fuse.

which wires did you cut exactly ?

well the thing i dont get with my gauges is why half of it would work and the other half wouldnt

Some gauges require a power source and others only have the signal sent to them and a ground?

i did the same thing a while back when i installed my elec cutout .. i forgot to re-dissconnect the battery.. and i blew the fuse on my stereo,dash/interior lights and some of my Cluster... The fuse is in the upper right corner, on the fuse panel located on the driver side of the dash .... check it out ..

You cant just look at the end of the fuse, you have to pull every single one out, and look at the leads if there dissconnected from eachother to determine the fuse is blown.. just tryen to help. good luck buddy

In fact, you should use a fuse tester or replace the fuse with a new one because they can look fine but still be blown.
