Default 06 GTO vs Mazdaspeed miata

so i'm driving on the mountain because me and my fiance had a fight so i'm just venting some anger on my tires and the curves. All the sudden this little convertible gets on my *** so i'm thinkin i just dished 2500 in suspension.. so i take off leaving him in the straights but that little bastard keeps catching up to me in the turns and again i could leave him in the straights until the last 2 turns when i just said screw it and tore *** through the turns i didn't see him on my bumper leaving the turns so i'm at the bottom of the mountain now and pull into a sonic and here he comes.. so i'm ordering a cherry limeade and he pulls up next to me rolls his window down "nice rides" are exchanged.. he then asked "so what kind of suspension you got?" i just said what suspension he said well you would be the first v8 he's ever lost to on the mountain so i told him Koni shocks, eibach springs, tanabe shock tower struts, slp sway bars and my 4 azenis.. but the impressive part is that little miata is a beast on the mountain he said the only thing he had done was tein lowering springs.. my next move is going to be to buy one of those miatas and do some swap to get that 4cyl out

Yea, those miatas are real corner huggers. They surprise alot of people. I love seeing ls1 miatas, fun little cars. I'd never own one though, just not a fan of how they look. RX7's on the other hand.....

Really nice suspension work you have there OP. Props.

Nice suspension op, agreed.

Yeah, those miata's are pretty light out of the box too, but watch what you put in there, it could throw the weight balance off and kind of ruin your suspension dynamics. Those little 4cyl + turbo = fun.

think about if the miata had the azenis. THose things are pretty sweet around the corners, and the tighter things get the better they are.

I think if you can swap a 5.0L and a T-5 with a 8.8 rear in one and keep almost a 50/50 weight ratio.......an ls1 and t-56 with a 10-bolt shouldn't be too off.

Try googling: Monster Miata

Remember IT'S A MIATA! Just stick with making the American Muscle sticky. Although, I have seen someone shoehorn a 632 BBC into an Opel, and I do have to say that was pretty mean!

There's nothing wrong with starting out with something that was intended to stick to the pavement like fly-paper, especially if that is your primary goal.

I'm with elevens on this one.

Lightweight, short wheelbase. Miata is perfect platform for a pocket rocket.

260ZX's, 1st gen RX-7's, 510's, 2002's.....all great platforms for a powerful V8 swap, too.

1st 2nd or 3rd gen Rx7s are all great platforms to swap the ls1 into.

I love my 2nd gen ls1 rx7

I'm waiting for the LSx/S2000 swaps to start... I doubt it will take long now that you can get used S2000s for less than $10k. Even less if the factory motor is tired/trashed. They've already done 2JZ/RB swaps.
