Yeah my buddy used to take his headlight out on his procharged gt, he said it helped a lil. Ive seen people do it with other cars too. My buddy hit a fire hydrant with his formula and it punched a hole right in front of the filter, thats also a custom intake mod yall should try

Nice runs against the Cobra, but please...don't ever called them "termis" again.
I gotcha...

Yea termis are gay..lol

It was pretty quick for a non pullied Cobra so maybe the headlight cai thing worked. He seemed to be quicker from a roll, but maybe he just hasn't got the car figured out yet. The only way I stayed with him from a roll was my weight reduction and nailing 4th. I think if I would have been full weight it would have been over. He's definately putting down over 400. I'd actually love to have one as an extra toy but who wouldn't?!

Oh yea I cut a 1.9 60 leaving at 1500 rpm and ran an 8.1 at 88.5mph. But it was hitting the rev limiter hard before the lights, so I figure a hard leave and better gearing/taller tire/raise rev limiter and I would have been in the 7s at over 90mph. Not bad for what it is.

LOL I forgot about that! When I was 16 and I had my 3.1L Camaro I did the TB bypass mod except I was too lazy to do it right so I looped the hose around the throttle body instead of under it. I was so ghetto. I even had a straight shot PVC custom cai from Lowes.

I did that too on my 3.1L. I used the stock air box and cut the snorkle and ran the dryer vent pipe down to where it could suck up some real cool air. I was expecting it to gain about 12rwhp but I don't think it helped at all.

And then I took the box completely off and just ran the circle K&N open with the air box lid on and I still didn't feel any gain. This is where the 4" PVC custom Lowes cai came into play. It actually did seem like it helped out some. However I was still getting my *** handed to me by mini vans and stock 4 door Honda Accords.

Thanks..It was more than I expected from a nearly stock Cobra..if he was telling me the truth. His times kinda match up though. Now I know to leave the pullied Cobras alone until I get my cam and supporting mods.

You never know with 03-04 Cobras, some run and some dont. To me they are kinda like C5Z06s, some can rape all kinds of cars and some dont seem much faster than a ls1 f-bod.

Right..but thats with me launching at 1500rpms on a deep stage and bouncing off the rev limiter in 3rd before I get thru the lights. Thats with a 1.9 60'. I can cut a 1.7 or better with a 4grand launch or higher...that coupled with running 4th out in the quarter would put me low 12s.

So you have 4.10 gears, LS1 with cai and exhaust and you run 8.1 leaving at 1,500rpms, deep staging (), and hitting the limiter in 3rd, with a 1.9 60'?

Is it just me or is it getting alittle deep in here?

agreed 3rd gear should be good for over 90
edit* maybe not with 4:10's

I understand your doubt...the answer lys in the fact that my tuner lowered my rev limiter to 6100 (don't know why my only guess is he knew I had a lead foot). Anyway, haven't had the money to raise it back up and kinda would like to wait till I get my cam anyway.

It would definately be good for over 90 as I trapped 88.5 on the rev limiter

vs.

94 Camaro-120k mile LS1 swap, 6 speed stock clutch, cai, exhaust, weight reduction, 4.10 gear

The roll races: 45-80- I'm in 3rd, he's in 2nd. We leave even and stay even the entire race. I have to lift early for a car in front of us.

40-100- We leave even..same gears(don't know what I was thinking as I should have been in 2nd both times..spuratic races?!)...I jump out and he reels me in by the top of third. When I hit fourth he has a fender on me but I pull back even. By the time I'm even we catch traffic again.

Great races though they would have been better had I been in a lower gear and had my cutout open..but oh well..lets say its a death.

Now to the dragstrip:

I ask him to race and he agrees so I get my revenge and beat him by 2 tenths. He gives his buddy the keys but he never best the first time. It would have been worse but I was hitting the rev limiter going thru the lights in 3rd. Consequently he out mphed me by 5 mph but lost...so its a kill but at the dragstrip

Overall a great day and my first race with a termi. Have to say I was impressed with how well his car ran and he was a good driver. After my 4th run my clutch started slipping so I'm calling it quits for the rest of the year.
I just have to know. Why an LS1 instead of a 383 LT1?
