Default Advice on Ticket

I recieved a speeding ticket but my last named was misspelled on the ticket. Can I get out of this easily? I live in IL. Any input would be great.

I doubt it. I had a similar situation a few years ago. I was driving a Taurus and he said during my contesting of the ticket that I was driving a Tempo...but it didn't matter in the end. I still had to pay the ticket. It doesn't hurt to try though. The magistrate who does all these hearings in my town will NEVER go against a cop. She's a super huge bitch and it's useless around here to try, but I've had better luck contesting tickets in other towns. The main thing will be whether you acknowledged guilt when you were pulled over. If you did it's over, but if not you could try to lie your way out of it. Good luck.

Just hire a Lawyer and let him do the work!

Hiring a lawyer is best, if it's a serious ticket. If not, it probably won't matter. It's like arguing that the cop is a moron to get out of the ticket. It really depends on the magistrate.

Yeah that depends though. Most lawyers will charge you more then the price of the ticket ... however, if it's a major ticket like a speed contest, or something where you are going to get your license suspended ... lawyer by all means.

Thats what I'm saying ... you might as well just go into court, without the lawyer, and just act like there is no way it was you. I've heard people get off for stupid stuff like things mispelled on the ticket, so go for it. If it doesn't work oh well.

I live in Il St Louis metro. I have had 17 speeding tickets and not a single one has went on my record.

Ask for court supervision and stay cool for the supervision period given you and it will not go on your record. It costs a little more than just taking the hit on your record (about $175 max for your mph over the limit) but it will save you on insurance rates. It is cheaper than a lawyer as well.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Here in the great state of over taxation Illinois nothing will keep them from collecting, not even a clerical error.
Get a lawyer though just so it doesn't end up on your record.
