a 234 cam in the first generation small block is a lot different than a 234 in the gen III. That is actually a pretty big cam for the first gen. What kind of iron heads are they? There are iron heads that flow pretty good without any port work.

true indeed. my buddy has an 83 z28 looks bone stock from the outside with some tt2 wheels and nice paint. what lerks underneath is another story. its a dart block 383 (callies internals), dart heads, custom cam, twin 61 mm turbos with a FAST ecu, t-56 (will be a built 200r4 come spring, blew up 3 t-56's this year) and a 9". car made 715 rwhp on 15 lbs of boost. turbos are capable of 25 lbs. motor is capable of 30+

^^^ yeah judging a book by its cover isn't really that good on the street. I got my *** handed to me by a f'ing mitsubishi mirage riding on stock 14" steel wheels with no hubcaps.

Not when its a roller cam, it just sounded nasty cus it was on a 108lsa. They were out of the box rhs 200cc heads, the car ran good but deperately needed gears and a dual plane intake. Lsx is in the works right now though, and it will be nasty 2900lbs and 650+whp, yeah its kinda hard to do that with a mild sbc Sbcs are all about the right combo of parts just like an ls1 car, Ive seen alot of cammed ls1 cars get outran by bolt-on cars. But then again Ive seen cam-only cars outrun H/C cars, its all in the combination.

Yeah on Old School motors you really have to pay attention and match the Heads and Cam just right and they'll turn out big numbers.

Old School Double Hump heads are Iron Heads and they can turn a Ol' SBC into quite a little hot street car with some port work and you'd never know it looking at the engine bay.....Thinking to yourself hmm just has iron heads this is a done deal. Watch out for the old school cause they can fool ya.

But I reckon an LS motor is the same if ya didnt know anything about them I could just see and Old School driver....Hmm Small Block, Some Wires, plastic intake WTF is this thing oh well its a done deal.LOL

IM a little biased though
