My 2004 GTO vs 2008 sti well it started off by him sayin he'd burn my car because he read his brosure just talkin **** like a mad man in front of a crew of about 50 people. so we lined up at the beginning of 167 from dt renton i got a pretty good launch i was a head by half a car til i got into 3rd and just started running away i redlined 4th at about 130ish and by then he was a good ways back so i started slowing down i was about 100mph then the loser fly by came threw a few seconds later LoL i thought those cars where fast off the line? especially the 08 hatches i mean his car looked pretty sick sounded nice to but my only mod i have is a muffler delete so its just straight pipe from the cat back nothin else.... anyone else run into sti's? i burn the older ones all day but i thought the 08's where somethin better and faster.... especially off the line lol i guess im just really suprised or this GTO is pretty quick idk wats up ppl? opinions? comments?

Well from what I've seen, the newer STIs are in the low 13's and you have the LS1 goat so you're probably in the mid to high 13's.
BUT, you would be able to walk past him at speeds above 100mph, I'd imagine.

BTW, either put your muffler back on or get something decent to replace it with, that can't sound all too good. (IMO)

good kill, i have seen a few sti's lose from digs to cars they should have beaten. i guess that some of the owners are too ***** to luanch the **** out of their car

good kill. but ya its all in the driver.. was he revved high. like literally that the exhaust was popping? if not then that's why you beat him. heres a race i did against a new sti. you can hear his exhaust popping. and you can hear that i had some traction control problems.. we ran again and i hooked up great and beat him. then we went from a 30mph roll and it was nothing. 
he later put a cam in it an blew up the engine! hahaha

Ok first of all, he should have been able to outlaunch you, so you beat the driver off the line. You should have been able to walk him over 100 though, as stated before. And I really don't get who people are trying to bullshit, with this crap about a stock ls1 goat hitting 12s. I know my car won't pull a 12 second pass at the moment and I have test drove and rode in and watched quite a few ls1 goats that my car would kill. Now either all of them were just underpowered and ran like ****, or their just not as fast as an ls1 f-body. One had a cai and ory and flowmaster single chamber muffler plus 3" cb and still got beaten by a stock ss, so I don't buy it. It's just like my friend saying his mild bolt-on cobalt n/a 2.2 ecotec would run a mid-low 14. Even better, guy here with stage 3 rousch says he can outrun a c6z06. HAHAHAHAHA, what a crock.

just because you have "test drove/rode in" a gto doesnt make you an expert, sorry.
a stock ls1 goat can run 13.0's, a tune and tires they have hit high 12's.

That's really no different than here, though. There's people claiming stock high 12s all the time.. but then you find out their definition of stock is a lid and drag radials. I know high 12s stock have been done, but it's not as common as one would be led to believe if they checked the drag results section.
