What's Up With the Youth of Today? **Long, hopefully funny**
DISCLAIMER - To all the younger guys on this board, I am not lumping you all in with the 2 geniuses I am about to describe, as long as you don't lump me in with the big dumb redneck crowd just because I am from Alabama, have a rebel flag tattooed on my a$$ and they played "Free Bird" at my wedding
Me - See sig
My opponent - 1996ish Lumina Z-34. !airbox mod.
On my way home from the local office supply store, a 1996ish lumina pulled up beside me at a red light. Thinking nothing of it, I continued to listen to some early Motley Crue at a pretty loud volume. Light turns green, I hear a tire chirp and some God awful racket coming from the next lane. I look over to see two genius's with backward caps and cell phones puttin' the smack down on some old *** dude in a POS Chevy pickup (that would be me). I punch it, break'em loose and decide screw it, I'm too old for this crap.
Down the highway I catch up with these two badasses and everytime I get beside them in traffic, genius #1 (that would be the driver) hammers it and the poor lumina makes that God awful racket again.
A few miles later, traffic clears and here they come. I drop her down into second at about 55 and wait. Sure enough, genius #1 decides to pull a ricer move and nail it while he is in my blind spot. I drop the hammer, wave bye bye (sometimes us old timers can be real jerks) and walk these two idiots by about 4 cars up to about 80.
I was like WTF?? I have maybe 325HP and that thing has like 150HP stock with another 150 or so from the !airbox mod (I live on Sand Mountain and that mod is worth about 150 ponies up here). So , why did I rape this badass ride so badly??
The clincher to my little adventure: a few miles further down the road they get beside me again. I give them a friendly wave just as genius #1 (that would be the driver) punches it... as genius #2 (that would be the passenger) is about to take a drink from his Pepsi.
I had to drive the rest of the way home wiping tears from my eyes I laughed so hard.
Not much of a kill, but the whole scene was funny as hell.
I hope the story reads as funny as it happened!
(EDIT: In case some of you ricer guys (your attitude, not the make you drive) are wondering, I made the !airbox thing up, but I swear to God that is exactly what it sounded like.)

ROTFL ... That is hilarious. I liked the "genius #1" and "genius #2" names. Definately put the picture in my head.

You say "redneck" like it's a bad thing. My family has been here in the Commonwealth for the last 278+ years and I'm pretty sure the family tree doesn't fork in all places. <Please wait while I spit Skoal> Okay. Besides, I'm in a mixed marriage... we're not blood related and she's from Missouri. So who says we haven't progressed?! Way to put the wannabe ricers in their place. I think this counts as a kill because genius #2 almost choked on his Pepsi. Good Kill (almost literally)!

Hey, I was young and had to learn once myself. It's just the shear unadulterated brashness some of these geniuses display when they don't have a clue that kills me (anybody see the video of the kid in Orland with the Z-28 and the special "Drag" gear). I was a big fan of the "Shut Up, Listen and Learn" technique when I was younger and knew less than I do now (and I STILL DON'T KNOW MUCH).
My generation was saddled with 165HP Z-28's, parachute pants, and pastel colors. You younger guys today are saddled with the ricer lifestyle, but at least high performance is back in vogue.
Anyone tried to compile a list of 1980's factory hot rods lately??
My badass 84 TA had a whopping 165HP (until I dropped a slightly warmed over 355 between the fenders)

I dunno, I had a '89 GT with 325hp from the blue oval factory. It ran a best of 12.98 years later with over 150k on it...The '80's were not all bad.

I myself am 20 and I think it's a shame when people my age and younger give the youth of today a bad name. Nice kill BTW.

I agree, I'm 21 and I often feel that I should've been born in the "muscle car era" of the 60's early 70's, and not the "ricer era" of today.
