, I had a guy tell me my car sucked after i repeatedly beat him from a dig and multiple rolls.
LT1 vs Cobra
LT1 vs Cobra it was an 01, sry to get your hopes up to those who thought it was gonna be a termi. i was hanging out with my honda buddy when he got a call about a guy wanting to race him. well we show up and they guy already chickened out by the time we got there. while we wer waiting around, this 01 cobra, newer riced out accord, and a 350z pull up. no one knew who they wer but the cobra revved at me when he went by. we drove over to ask if he wanted to run. he said no because he just bought the car. but he still asked me to pop the hood. idk why, he didnt exactly look like he knew what he was looking at. he popped his hood and immediately pointed to the SVT badge on the pass. valve cover and said "5.4 baby" i just said "uh, ok lets run." i beat him by so many car lengths i couldnt count them all. normally i wouldnt be that proud of beating an 01 cobra but i just love beating cars people just bought. especially when they think their car is the ****. i told they guy it might be a better idea to sell the car and buy an LS1 to which he promptly said "LS1s suck." i told him he just got beat by a lesser motor and dared him to find a 6 speed LS1 that will actually lose to his car. they looked like they wer in high school so im guessing he didnt exactly pay for it himself.

I know anything can happen on the street. But how is it that a stock LT1 with 275-285 horsepower {depending what year} beat a stock 01 Cobra with 320 horsepower. LT1's weigh basically the same as those year Mustangs. Yes, I know there's the driver mod. But I'm talking about car against car.

Dig up some dyno numbers on stock 6-speed LT1s and '99/01 Cobras. You'll find comparable horsepower, but with the LT1 making more torque. Such Mustangs typically dyno about the same power and torque. For what it's worth, F-bodies usually make every bit the power the Corvettes do, but play victim to GM's ratings game. They're 300 horsepower cars.

A stock '01 Cobra "should" beat an LT1, but stuff does happen. Personally I think anyone that drives an N/A 4v Cobra that doesn't have ATLEAST 4.10s is asking to lose. Those cars need a good gear.

I didn't know lt1 f-bodys where as fast as ls1 f-bodys
I dug up some dyno's, I couldn't find but one on the LT1. It was 253.xx hp./ 281.xx tq. For the 01' Cobra, I found 276.xx hp., 270.xx/ 290.xx tq., and 266.xx hp. Also, the Cobra that had 270.xx hp./ 290 tq. ran a 13.5 @ 105 in the quarter. The best I've ever heard of a LT1 is 13.9x. I had a 97' Z28, the best I had was 14.1. That was with a CAI. A LT1 doesn't look like it stacks up to a01' Cobra to me. And no, I'm not a Ford fanboy. I have a 2002 Camaro SS.

I mentioned how close a 6-speed LT1 and '99/01 Cobra can be on a dyno. Take it for what you may.
